I can't say that I like the fact that the flags are being taken down. But I can understand the frustration that Newfoundland feels (though I don't quite understand the entire history of it). There has to be a better way, but as it's been said, it got the attention of everyone this way...

I have been expecting something like this for years.I thought Alberta would be the province todo it but whatever works.
The Federal goverment has badly needed reminding that Quebec and Ontario are not the only provinces.I understand why the Liberals would suck up too Ontario we are after all the morons that keep putting them back in charge. And Quebec to keep them from going the seperation route once again.
Using the flag as a tool was a great way too get the attention of the country, but most importantly making sure Martin cannot hide this under a rug.
THat is after all the Liberal way

I have lost faith in the Liberal party. Though i did not vote for them in this past election (voted NDP) i still help them in high regard. Paul Marin has done nothing since the election. The feds waist 100's of millions on making sure the west and Quebec stay in check, while at the same time slaping around the little guy becasue he asked for his fair share.

Many people in Newfoundland: myself included, feel like they have been slaped in the face not only by the feds but buy the rest of Canada and our two 'National' newspapers. Newfoundland has always been alone way out here in the Atlantic. But we have never felt so deserted by people we thought were our friends. I realy do not want to be a Canadian anymore atfer seeing how people feel about us. I am ashamed of the Country i once loved.

I never had any faith in the liberal party.Never will I vote NDP prefer the PC's but not in the Federal GOverment.I have been voted the last election The Green party. Not because I am a tree hugger I just feel they should get a voice in Ottawa and the money that comes with every vote.

Well they are back up again! :D FYI...the courts in Nfld had them back up the day after they were taken down. It is not disrespectfull to use the symbol of the country, to raise the awareness of the people, of that country. Paul Martin switched the focus of the issue from the offshore oil dispute, to the taking down of the flags  cause its the only leg he has to stand on.

AdamNF @ Tue Jan 11, 2005 6:15 pm

The only leg he has? How about the pm's promise and the facts. Those sounds like a few good legs to me.
