Thanos Thanos:
Good point but it wouldn't have been fixed by an offensive and politically loaded ethnicity based census question and a threat to fine anyone who only used "Canadian" as an answer.

And they backed down, and accepted 'Canadian' as an answer, once they realized their mistake. But that doesn't make up for the costs we will incur because of bad information when we are trying to plan our infrastructure for the future.

'Canadian' was the only answer I gave as well. And they eventually stopped bugging me.

How can you provide addresses to schools that haven't been built yet for kids not old enough to attend yet? How do you know where to build the school if you don't know where the kids live?

Then track the baby bonus cheques.

You know, the ones the government sends ?

Re: the ethnicity questions. played right into the Tories hands though at the time. A clear case of adherence to ideology over common sense with the Liberals doing multicult Uber alles to their detrimental.

Government ministries are forbidden by law* to not share information. That was the reason for a national census! Baby cheques are Federal, and infrastructure planning is Municipal, and they don't share information either.

It used to come from Stats Canada, which was anonymized and available for all.

*Bill C-51 allows for certain government agencies to share data amongst themselves, but only for people deemed to be 'suspected terrorists'. But it doesn't define 'suspected terrorist' and Stats Canada isn't one of the agencies.

Filled out the long-form this week, much easier than I expected. Nothing offensive about it at all. Compared to what information the state and private companies have on me already, this was not a big worry at all. The people in my household are of multiple races and we had zero problem with those questions.

It's not like on TV the agencies can't talk to each other. You can't send a text and get the address, presonal data and SIN of a license plate. Oh wait... unless you're from Treo
