Sad but true...
How quaint that the US flag is being used to smear someone.
I'm amazed that some folks on this site will simultaneously cheer on this kind of crude libel all while wanting the USA to treat them better.
I'm hoping Harper gets in and relations improve.

Now Bart as someone who actually resides part of the time in Canada, I'd have thought you might understand the complexity of the realtionship between Canada and the US a little better. If you can't comprehend that being absorbed or assimilated is a legitimate concern for a middle-ranking country of 30m whose only border is with the most powerful nation on earth (militarily, economically and culturally) with whom we do almost all our trade then you need to develop some perspective.
I hope relations improve too but I never want to be a lap dog

Ok by this logic does this mean every time the US has a Democrat in the White House we have to elect conservatives? I heard no howls of pain and anguish when our former crooked PM was playing golf with Clinton.....

At some point I'm hoping the "Fear America" crowd in Canada will come to their senses and realize that American assimilation of Canada only occurs when Canadians
let it happen. We can only take what you don't hold on to.
I suppose I should point out the Hans Island thing as something that, while comical to some, is being watched carefully by those people who have designs on Canada...many of them obviously American. If controlling a few acres of a remote island poses a problem for Canada then perhaps there may be bigger things that can be taken away without much of a fight. I'll guarantee that SOMEONE in Washington or New York has had that thought.
I would dread a Canada under the US for a multitude of reasons.
1) Quebec.
2) Most of the Canadian Provinces that become US States will go Democrat.
3) Los Angeles would rape BC for water.
4) The years between annexation and the next decennial Census and reapportionment would have the former Canadian Provinces woefully underrepresented in Congress and "rape" would accurately describe what corrupt Democrats and Republicans would do - dare I say, it would resemble an occupation.
5) It just wouldn't be
Canada anymore.
Also, I'll correct your tone towards me by noting that I am consistently more pro-Canadian than easily half of the Canadians on this site. When the USA is wrong on an issue I'm happy to say so.

Just because we want to be treated better doesn't mean we want to be you, asshole.
Harper looks like that alien in Men In Black after he kills the guy and wears his skin.
Speak of the Devil.

Well said - US/Canada relations should not hinge on who our leaders happen to be.
