And people wonder why the US are making Canadians use passports to get into their country from 2007 on?

I think it's clear that he was not happy with the mediocrity in Canada and it's social programs when he made that comment. An ideological difference to most Centre of Left of Centre Canadians.

Income per capita
Standard of living
Cost of living
Ability to defend it's borders
Entertainment
Business and economic efficiency
Diversity of it's economy
Charitable giving (yes that's right they give more down there)
Disposable income
Justice system
