During the run up to the war in Iraq I bought a tri-flag holder for the porch and put the Canadian, American and British flags in it. People would pull over and knock on the door to yell at me

A couple threatened to take a poke at me

I had to take em in at night to make sure they made it rhough the night. Of course I would have struck the colours at sunset in any case

God that is pathetic. There are some really scary lefties in this country.
How do you know they are lefties? For all you know they were were right wing in political and/or social views? Substitute "leftie" with "black" or "asian" and you understand what your statement sounds like.
I actually never asked about political affiliation, but for the most part they were pretty obvious granola munchers. I not so politely told them where to head in and then told them to get the hell off my porch.
And btw....race is not something anyone chooses, political stance is, so I will always feel free to voice my opinion on someone's stance on an issue

Nice try but your words are empty and meaningless I truely don't buy your bs but good effort though.
Oh and you can come down here and I will soundly beat you in the 100 meter and you can go back to the country you really love with your tail between your legs.....well leg anyways.
Challenged by a flat ass....thats funny.

Bort yaps and in comes Avro.
See ya later Charles.

Avro, if you're this good then why aren't you enlisted in the CF?

It involves getting up early.

I like how when Americans wave flags at ballparks and such, it's considered patriotic, but a Canadian does the same thing and it's like everyone is damned embarrassed of the guy.
Interesting observation. I have a US flag outside my home in California when the weather is decent and no one says a word about it - but when I bought my home in Oak Bay and put up a flag pole with a Canadian flag flying above a smaller US flag my new next-door neighbor actually told me it wasn't 'classy' to fly a flag at all! When I'm there they both fly, of course, but I found it odd to have a Canadian criticize an American for flying a Canadian flag in Canada - and your comment made me realize the root problem: my neighbor was ashamed to see his own flag.
That has more to do with the mentality of Oak bay than is does with Canadians. Bunch of snobs in the bay, always has been.

Oak Bay has its share of snobs, true that, but there's also a lot of great people in the neighborhood and there's no small number of students in the area (such as the young lady who keeps a room at my house).
I also like the company of the veterans in the area - there's no shortage of British Royal Navy guys (although I'm sad to see the WW2 generation disappearing) and then there's the RCAF and RCN guys around, too.
I do think some of them are a little full of themselves, but they're the exception and not the rule.
Or, perhaps the snobbery is just too subtle for me, as an outsider, to readily grasp - that's a possibility, too, I'll admit.

... not everyone in this country has to where there patriotism on their sleeve like Americans do.
Just on their backpacks "eh?" Oh I hear you are having trouble finding someone to carry your flag at the Olympics. Must be all that "Kick Ass" pride "eh?"
Uboat @ Thu Jan 19, 2006 10:43 am
If you continue to have trouble we can loan you a Marine Color Guard. Your flag will be upside down, but better than nothing "eh?"
Avro Avro:
First do I have to be enlisted to be a good runner or is it just you marines that can do physical activity.....well use to in Bort's case?
Secondly you have no idea what you are talikng about Wullu but you keep thinking you are the only one that gets little sleep.
Little sleep is my middle name always has been.
Take it easy Charles.

What's this "used to" crap? You try running 10k on a titanium knee with an 80lb pack *and* know that you have to stay ahead of the recruits 20 years younger than you are just to keep up appearances.
By the way, Avro, the major difference between Wullu and I and you is that when we run we run
towards the danger while you run away from it.
Hell, the French Marines might have a posting for you.

Glad to see you take a personal interest in my posting habits. I don't hate Canadians, just pricks like you with an irrational hatred for the US.
