Stop Muslim immigration into Canada
desertdude desertdude:
No andy and EB the thread is not about stopping/curbing immigration, but just muslim immigration
The thread is silly and we are talking more broadly. Personally, if the immigrant is a good candidate I couldn't give a toss what religion they are.

How about we have people work until later in life, raise our taxes and cut back in government services to deal with this issue, since there will definitely be a point where we just can't keep adding people to the planet in order to avoid this problem?
Get people to work longer, pay more taxes and accept fewer services? What colour is the sky in your world?

Your heart is in the right place, but your brain is in la-la-land.
It'll never happen, simply because there isn't a politician in the world that could get elected with that platform.

It will happen because we have to do it - the question is just how long we continue to live in la-la-land before we wake up. The later we do, the harder things will be.

Well I see one flaw with this, although I don't have stats on this but I've heard birth rate is low and diminishing and people are living longer. Meaning an againg population without enough people to replace them.
Your solution might work for a short term ( 30, 50 or maybe 100 years ) but very soon if the trend continues the labour force will be very severly under manned and maybe eventualy become extinct.

I doubt it.
Even conservative reformers like Ralph Klein can only cut so far and for so long before the voters threaten them with being ousted, and then out comes the Ralph Bucks or natural gas rebate checks or lowered GST (that's a Harper example) or whatever.
Like I said, your heart is in the right place, and I wish it could be the way you suggest, but far too many Canadians wouldn't put up with such measures for very long. Canadians will accept cuts when absolutely necessary (when faced with a crisis or a huge deficit for example), but not permanently.
andyt @ Mon Nov 01, 2010 1:30 pm
We are faced with a crisis, one that will only get worse - look around you - we won't stay isolated from the world.
Who knows what the future holds about our standard of living having to be reigned in, but what I see for the foreseeable future it will have to be.
The west has bee living beyond it's means for quite some time. The "east" wants to live like the west, but with the numbers of people they have it's impossible. As I said, China for instance is facing a demographic crisis that makes ours pale by comparison. Sooner or later we're going to have to figure out how to live with a global population that's older than it is now, with fewer productive members. Or, of course we can let nature take it's course with famines or wars or disease that kills enough people that there will be another baby boom again and all will be well. For a while.
I see many Canadians here saying that they have muslim friends. What I insist you do is take out the muslim aspect out of it for a second while you read my post.
For example, and I can only speak for myself, but I have many friends all with very different political ideas like I imagine everyone does. Some of my friends are, even though friends, say some pretty crazy stuff when discussing politics. Some of my friends, may even lose their tempers and walk out of the room because of political differences.
In contrast with my friends where there might be only 1 or 2 'crazy idea people' who is thinking for themselves. If there was any kind of indoctrination to somehow guide their belief, ie rules of religion or ideology set in front of him by his families, it puts heavy strain to the conversation. Not to mention, like most people, in the end they will choose family. Religion and Ideology have split many friends up before when talking about it. Can we all agree to this?
Now, bring back to your attention the muslims. I want to ask everyone here who is for muslim immigration, even tho a muslim friend is 'pouring a drink' with you, or playing a game of baseball, or just having some laughs (I have muslim friends too btw), when push comes to shove about world views, it is my concern that they will take the view of what they were brought up with.
What Im trying to say is that us good hearted Canadians take this as a racial problem, which it is not. THIS IS NOT A RACIAL ISSUE~! Religion and Ideology, which have nothing to do with race, are 2 main reasons for war. History proves this. Islam is not only a religion, but also an ideology. Compounded with the fact that muslims are the most intolerable people in the world, I conclude that no one has to look farther than England/Europe to see the problems that can and will result.
In brief, the way to avoid war, is for having as many like-thinkers as possible. Think of the future political society that you want your children in, and choose family first. Also, I highly suggest you ask your muslim friends (like I did) the big questions over that drink and then make your own personal conclusion like I have.
Even though friends, their ways of thinking is far different from our own. Some of them do have an agenda, which makes the others look bad. I dont mind who are here to remain, but I am a strong advocate for the decline of multiculturalism for the protection of our future society.
And my last point is a personal one, think of your children. Friends come and go, but the future of your families are literally forever, or maybe not depending on what you do in the 'now'. I dont think we will see it in our lifetimes, but in the future when their political views are then demonstrated by their numbers. Remember that any of our future children fighting for freedom to not be under this kind of society, will have a much harder time because of your now muslim friends.
If anyone thinks that multiculturalism is a good thing, they need only be reminded of the American Indian.

No. We can't. Religion and ideology have split up many families. People choose for themselves.

Xenophobia, not just for breakfast anymore.
As long a they are willing to assimilate into society and honour the laws and customs of North America who cares if they come in. I take exception to when to when they come in and want to import sharia Law and a few other cultural non-niceities such as honour killing and thing of that nature.
I have some good friend who are devout Muslims and fit into my culture fine.

Why is it people have to get excited all over again and respond to a thread which came to it's natural end nearly 2 years ago? Before any more comments are posted please read the thread in it's entirety....all 25 pages.......to ensure you are not just rehashing an argument which has already ran its course.

Just lock it. I'm bored, so I take every opportunity to either pick a fight, have fun or do both at the same time

(Just not bored enough to read all 25 pages of a thread that started 8 years ago

)
Done.
