Stage set for government defeat Monday
28th is going to be it. The game of chicken has gone too far and the opposition will call it, they have no choice now.

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas...

Avoid Christmas Election—Act NOW
Some time after 6:45 on Monday the Prime Minister will seek an audience with his hand picked Governor General and inform her that he has lost the confidence of the House and request the issuance of a General Writ of Election.

Now even though the PM promoted her to this job he has no power to compel her to issue a writ. She could call upon Her Majesty’s Leader of the Loyal Opposition and inquire if he believes that he has the confidence of the house thereby delaying a general election until a date in the future.

The obvious benefit to all three opposition parties and the Canadian Taxpayers would be removing the public chequebook from the hands of the Liberals. We have already seen them toss billions of our cash in a desprate attempt to buy our votes and it seems that Mr. Dithers is only concerned with governing in the dying days of the parliament.

We have seen Liberal cabinet ministers jetting across the country by challenger jet handing out cheques to the usual suspects as quickly as the printers can churn them out. As long as they control the purse strings and maintain their questionable ethics Canadians cannot expect a fair election contest. In September the Prime Minister spent perhaps as much as $160,000 in taxpayer dollars to fly to Liberal Party fundraisers while Mr. Harper, Duceppe and Layton flew commercial aircraft or were driven by volunteers.

By asking the Leader of the Opposition to form a government we could get through the holiday season, introduce the accountability package that seems the have majority opposition support and go to the polls in mid January as proposed by Jack Layton.

If you want a fair election contest, if you want to enjoy your Christmas holidays, and want the corrupt Liberals to stop trying to bribe us with our own cash then send an e-mail, letter, or call the Governor General 1 800 465-6890 (613) 998-1664(Fax) and request that she conceder all options available to her.

There is nothing wrong with a Christmas election what would be wrong is to let those theive continue to bribe us with OUR own hard earn CA$H. I would d'like to quote Gille Ducept.

''Fesons nous un cadeaux et débarrassons nous des Libéraux''

To all Canadien we should use this unique occasion to give ouself a present by getting rid of the liberal. Merry christmas to you all.

ridenrain @ Thu Nov 24, 2005 12:28 pm

I agree.
It absolutely floored me that the first talk about a Xmas election was right about Remembrance day. Here we were remembering large numbers of people who fought and died to ensure we got to keep those votes, and here someone is bitching because some political candidates might have to go outside.
If that's the case, then democracy is well and truly dead in Bananada.

You are suggesting a change of government without an election, Ridenrain. While it may be technically legal, the idea is extremely distasteful and dangerous to the democratic traditions of this country.

Besides, if you look into the King-Byng Affair, you'll find that King was able to thrash the opposition with their undemocratic takeover and win a majority in the next election. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have a Liberal majority.

I didn't write it and I believe it's sarcasm.
I should have made that more clear.

CrazyCanuck007 @ Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:58 pm

all i know is layton and harper are both scum for calling this election.
to say it's the gov'ts fault because they didn't give into opposition demands is stupid beyond belief!
martin has said he will call an election 30 days after the final gomery report.
why can't they wait?
could it be they are afraid the report will say martin is not guilty, and thereby deniying them the attack ads they so want to use?

like i said, what are harper and layton afraid of if they wait....

Damien @ Thu Nov 24, 2005 2:08 pm

I just hope the libs wont get elected again...

Guilty or not, Martin was aware of what was going on and we can't let this pass, they stoled and lied to every canadians. Can't understand why some peoples continue to vote for them.

I'm not a big fan of the conservatives, but has an honest citizen of this country, they are going to get my vote.

Ok you crazyCanuck SO is it ok for you to have the Government subverse the democratic proccess in order to maintain itself in Power?

If you don't understand the question go read part of the Gomery report!

And if you don't mind well I can only say that most Quebecer will send a clear message that we are not for sale.

By voting for the bloc ? Every vote for the bloc is one more chance for the libs to get elected again. I can't understand, even if you are a separatist... it is federal election, why don't you vote for your country ? And honestly, the only thing the bloc is doing is to whine... What are you expecting from them exactly ?

Well in my opinion it is not up to Québecer to clean up the mess that the federal liberal has made. Most Quebecer will vote Bloc so if the rest of Canadien like Good governance all they have to do is to vote conservative or NDP. They (the ROC) have to make their choice either they like it in the ass or they don't.

If you have followed federal politcs in the last ten year you know very well that the Bloc was on the forefront of many debate and policy. If you don't know what they are doing in Ottawa maybe it'S time that you inform yourself on the subject.

Damien @ Thu Nov 24, 2005 2:28 pm

Actually I am pretty aware of what they are not doing at ottawa and it is to represent us efficiently. They keep Québec in the opposition and diminish our reputation in Canada.
