No wonder most Canadians don't vote, given the juvenile idividuals that seem to populate the political parties of Canada.

I ask people what they think about politics, their best lines, and right now what I am hearing is that Ignatieff has been a disappointment, but, the others are no better. 3 on a scale of 10. So he's hang in.

Just the usual double standard that has become a Liberal value.

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

This coming from the guy who rakes the Liberals over the coals for the slightest thing but either ignores the exact same thing when his party does it, or offers up the lame criticism, "Well, I don't much like it but the Liberals blah blah blah".

It's no excuse for either side like I said before boot. We should be disgusted with both parties when this crap is pulled.

But we should throw up when the bloc does it. :P

I agree with you. I'm not excusing it in any way shape or form, merely pointing out that when Conservative supporters did similar stuff in the past, many supporters here laughed their asses off. The thing that rankles me is the outright hypocrisy of it all.

Zipperfish @ Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:54 pm

This is the all time for the Liberals? That's not too bad, then.

ridenrain @ Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:55 pm

It's comming from a guy with "But the Liberals did too!" as a sig. It's all BS but a puffin pooping on someone is a far way away from assasination.

Annihilator @ Wed Dec 16, 2009 1:20 pm

Can't just both side stop acting like crybabies whenever one of these little event happen?

Complaining about how mean the liberals are will lead us nowhere, at least it won't be better than complaining about how evil the tories are.

Yeah, bad picture, changes nothing about politics, get over it.

ridenrain @ Wed Dec 16, 2009 1:28 pm

I agree but it's a constant theme on both sides. Even when Liberal mouthpiece, Scott Reid wrote:

$1:
This becomes relevant because suddenly, he is weak. In fact, at this particular moment, he is almost unable to defend himself. Owing to a ridiculously ill-considered act of hubris, he has laid himself vulnerable to his opponents. Their imperative could not be more clear: kill him. Kill him dead. Do not, whatever you do, provide him with an opportunity to extend his hold on power. Because you can be damn certain he will never again be so reckless as to give you a chance to finish him off.

Yeah, like that's what that picture meant.

It was a character assassination plain and simple, just like the pooping puffin, the Libranos moniker, etc. You're just a big ole' hypocrite. When your party does it, it's funny as hell and A-okay, but no one ever better do it to your party.

Case in point, where was your righteous indignation of Harper doing business with China? You bash Chretien and the Liberals for it every chance you get, yet when your leader does it, nary a peep from you.

Maybe it's lost on me, as a Conservative Party member and such, but there's a difference between having a bird shit on somebody's head, and having an edited image of assassinating a political figure. There were better ways to represent both, no doubt, but I think that image crossed a fine line.

And comparing elected politicians to gangsters doesn't cross the line? To me, it's essentially the same thing. Either they're both wrong or neither one is.

Honestly, to me, that picture reminded me of the Itchy & Scratchy episode guest directed by Oliver Stone.

ridenrain @ Wed Dec 16, 2009 3:55 pm

It's the difference between a harmless joke and taking it over the line.

Does Harper have personal business dealings with China? Chretien definately does.

See the difference?

Comparing elected politicians to fictional gangsters during a corruption scandal does not compare to editing a picture in order to show an elected politician and worse yet, the leader of a country, being assassinated. Sure, comparing politicians to gangsters does cross a line, but I guess there are a few lines drawn in the sand. Assassination is the LAST line to cross.

I don't think the anti-war protests during the Bush Presidency went down that path of having doctored photos to show his "assassination".
