The right wing smaller government

Military. Private Business. Religious Institutions.
What are you saying here?
No more money/breaks. No wars.
Cut Military funding (nothing veteran), Cut any breaks for businesses, small businesses getting the least of the brunt, and taxation of churches and other institutions.
You are now an American as we will have given up all the ability to defend ourselves or bring any international credibility to the world stage.
How long is the current phase of yours going to last, by the way?

Well, I'd argue that we're pretty much a vassal state to the US anyway. We don't have much of a military threat, and that's just the way the US wants it, despite moaning that they would have to protect us in a pinch. They'd rather have us as a protectorate than have to worry about our military ambitions if we decided to get serious and nuke up.
I'm not dissing our military--they punch above their weight.

I won't disagree with much of that. Removing the military also removes the last vestiges of our slender independence, though.

Oh this would have to be a sort of world wide initiative, but the American and
Corporate governance in it's current persona would not like any of these changes.
Not suggesting any trade restrictions or offensive competition against the USA
(or anyone). Can't we all just be friends?
Oh well, now that that cleared up. Let's flash that up tomorrow because everyone has politically matured for that.

I don't think our credibility comes from the countries we invade.
Really, the awful mix of self righteousness and ignorance you sometimes spew into these forums give me pause in thinking you having clue one about life. Really.

What do you mean 'How long would it last'? Till no one had a military, no one was homeless, no corrupt multinational corporations, no paid off politicians, and a good understanding that religion is fine, but everyone pays.
I'm talking about the latest redefinition you place on the forum stage as you weave your way eyes wide shut through your adolescence.

Like Zip said, our independence is minor and tied simply to dressed up positions. I don't suggest outright removing it (not right away) and I would think we require some sort of basic and good defense. We shouldn't be in A'stan though.
And yet you cheerlead for the removal of the military. I must assume you and Bart are much closer on citizen defence than was previosuly thought.

Everyone wants to cut waste. Heck, what could be better than cutting waste? Nobody has his ox gored and you're increasing efficiency. Problem is that ideas' been thought of altready and waste cutting programs have been reverberating throughout the system for as long as government has been around. Eliminating waste is a good thing, but cuts woulnd't be substantial. Also, I'd argue that a certain amount of waste is inevitable, if not necessary.
Of course, but I'm not suggesting we target waste. I'm sugggesting we target perfectly well operated government programs, like the Agriculture Canada's genetics services for farmers. The standard response when people say we need to cut government is "We can't do that without affecting service". Well NO SHIT. That ought to be the reason TO cut. The purpose of the Canadian Government is to protect the SHARED interests of Canadians. Instead, it has become a slush fund for Special Interest Groups' unshared interests. The way to balance the budget, ensure long-term funding of IMPORTANT government programs (like health-care, education, national defence, etc.) and reduce taxes is target the thousands of small programs that don't benefit most Canadians.

Well that's something different, but uh I'd prefer no guns.
I cheerlead for the removal of military?
To answer your question, I dunno, you tell me? I suppose the day I am persuaded away is that day I'll see something different? What exactly do you want as a response to that? Well I know what you
want, but how can you expect it?
Did you bong-up before posting this?

Cut Parliament and the Senate. El Harpo has no need for them!
Hmm, Quebec anyone? Wanna talk sacred cows? How much do you think your "officially bilingual" box of cereal costs? Per year? x40 years? :cry
Oh yeah, charge newfies $10.00 to work in Ft.McMurray. End of deficit, right there!

A Newfie head tax? I'd actually go for that, just so I could watch Danny-boy's head explode at the press conference.

Uhhh, I'll guess "exactly the same fucking number of dollars that it would cost if it were printed in English only".
Sheesh. We've only been in Deficit for a few years, not decades. Just freeze New Spending, especially new Military Equipment, and we'd be Balanced in a few years without much angst.
