HOLY SHIT HAS HIT THE FAN
At Canadaland, we really didn’t expect to find ourselves reporting on the WE organization again.
But then it was the focus of the biggest politics story in the country, and we obtained a recording of a strange conversation between one of its founders and a person who was then a senior employee in the group’s Kenyan operations.
Jesse sits down with our managing editor, Andrea Schmidt, to discuss what we learned - and how, while we were investigating WE, one of its lawyers had commissioned his own investigation of us.
You can read WE’s responses in full here: shorturl.at/eEGH9
And our recent article about the recording (with the full, unedited recording included) here: https://www.canadalandshow.com/crime-an ... -in-kenya/

This could really hurt The PM. Great work Jesse!

The PMs biggest liability has always been himself. ;)

I think he will be able to walk this off but WE is done for. Good riddance!

Not "WE" but their Kenya branch of "Free The Children" has an active bulletin for child trafficking in a particular law enforcement database. Not to arrest anyone but to carefully scrutinize the documents of any children transiting an international border under their care and custody.

This is getting legs and is getting worse. Now with an investigation and calls for Trudeau to resign.

I remember CBC falling all over themselves way back when about how proto-"woke" those Kielburger kids were with their huge charitable "we're doing it for the children!" hearts. Good to see it exploded in their faces, years after the fact, with another supposed charity being exposed as just another sleazy for-profit rip-off for those fortunate enough to be in the inner circle. Good for a laugh, even though it's much better that nearly a billion dollars didn't end up being handed over to that mess.

Three strikes.

DrCaleb @ Fri Jul 10, 2020 6:41 am

Two strikes too many.

I mean, who in the PMO thought this would be a good idea, and didn't tell the guy? How did he think it was a good idea for his wife, brother and mother to get paid by these guys, and not recuse himself from cabinet decision about them? And which part of the civil service says "we don't do that, find an outside entity to deliver those funds" and which part of the public did he think would buy that bullshit?

Anyone still gullible enough to not believe that Trudeau shares almost all the same personality traits as Trump? Because getting the entire family involved in the scam is exactly something that the POS in the White House does on a regular basis.

And here's another way those two are nearly identical to each other - their cultists will defend what they do to their dying breaths, because to them the alternative is just too monstrous to contemplate having in power instead of Dear Leader. And here's another parallel that's too disgusting for words - both oppositions in both countries are so fucked up with their own problems that the keep finding a way to lose to idiots like Trudeau and Trump. It's uncanny, that level of incompetence happening in opposition while the two shitheads in charge make everything exponentially worse around them than it ever was before. :|

It’s a scandal that could—but probably won’t—take down Justin Trudeau. After swearing otherwise, WE was forced to admit that it paid Justin's mom and brother more than $350,000 in speaking fees. It's triggered an ethics inquiry and a call for a criminal investigation. And all because Canadaland produced the receipts.
Jaren Kerr, Canadaland’s former deputy editor, joins Jesse to discuss his 2018-19 investigation into WE Charity—reporting that set the groundwork for the scandal unfolding now. And Jesse talks about his own reporting, and how it spurred the latest developments in this fast-moving story.

So it gets worse...

The WE stood to gain $43m, rather than the $19M previously admitted.

Finance Committee.

$1:
#269 We Do Some Accounting
We have some questions about WE’s government contract and their internal accounting. And the story of how a Canadian media outlet suppressed assault allegations against Peter Nygard.

Here is the rot that is ‘we’.
