Western Seperation...Coming to a country near you!

It's only a matter of time...
CALGARY (CP) - More than one-third of western Canadians surveyed this summer thought it was time to consider separation from Canada, a poll suggests.
In the survey, 35.6 per cent of respondents from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia agreed with the statement: Western Canadians should begin to explore the idea of forming their own country.
Albertans, at 42 per cent, were most apt to consider independence, followed by Saskatchewan at 31.9 per cent. Residents of B.C. and Manitoba were the least likely to consider separation, at 30.8 and 27.5 per cent respectively.
The survey was commissioned by the Western Standard, a right-leaning bimonthly news and opinion magazine based in Calgary, to assess how well the federal government has been managing the issue of western alienation - something that Prime Minister Martin promised to reduce as part of his 2004 election campaign.
The research was conducted by pollster Faron Ellis, a political science professor at Lethbridge Community College, who surveyed 1,448 adult western Canadians between June 29 and July 5.
The results are considered accurate within plus or minus 2.6 percentage point, 19 times out of 20.
Ellis noted that surprisingly, separatist sentiment appeared to run highest among young people - 37 per cent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 were open to the notion of breaking away from Canada.
Support was lowest - 33.7 per cent - among the baby boom generation aged between 45 and 64.
In the poll's supplementary questions, 64 per cent of respondents said Martin had done a "poor job" at ending western alienation.
"Western" separatism is doomed from the start because the main motivation for its current rise is the perception that Ontario votes Liberal and the Conservative Westerners are being ignored, well what happens if in the new republic of Western Canada BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba vote NDP or Liberal a few elections in a row? will Alberta separate from the seperatists?
what link can I read this at?

Well lets look at Saskatchewan who votes NDP election after election since the Conservatives fucked us up huge here, and will vote like a bunch of right wing monkeys the next federal election. I think the problem with people is they dont know what they want. And the federal government isnt prepared to sit down and figure out what that is.
I have an idea of what the new flag of Western Canada will look like (with maybe a few modifications in the upper left)...

Yo Bart, you really gotta stop drinking that Murchies coffee....it is really starting to mess with your mind. Still an interesting thought mind you but I could not actually see that flying in Western Canada. Nothing to back me on that comment sorry....just a rash generaliation on my part!

I'd worry more about Northern California, Washington and Oregon joining them if I was you, never heard of Cascadia
This is the original "Milk Cow" cartoon, which has been prolific in many different versions throughout the history of Western Canada, since it was originated in 1915 by Winnipeg cartoonist, Arch Dale, for the Grain Growers Guide of December 15, 1915. It -- and many other such cartoons -- demonstrates that the grievances of Western Canada are not new, but have existed as long as the West has been part of Canada.

the cow (excepting Alberta) should be pointing in the other direction
Western Standard = zero credibility.

Hey! Murchie's coffee rules!
Maybe BC would not go for it, and you may recall from history class that BC almost opted out of the Dominion so the independent streak is there already. Alberta, Manitoba, Sask would probably go US and considering a lot of people who live in those provinces have relatives in the States it's not a stretch for them.

Everyone in question would do well to avoid anything to do with California - trust me - I live there.

Lol that's cool and true. Alberta and the "prairies" are very rich, No debt. They pay for stay in Canada with the Queen.
They could be a great country, i dont know if they have their own culture and histoire ( of maybe its the "Canada" history ) But I saw their flag and I think they should be proud of their flag. And proud of their place ( with a lot of oil !!! lol, maybe we have in st-laurent too ! )
Lol If Alberta quit the Canada before Quebec, the Quebecers suck hard !!!! lol Or we are totaly brainswacher by the "Commandites" Anyway I hope that Alberta will realize that they pay for staying in Canada, and the ETERNAL Liberals !!!!!!!
This is the leader of the western separatist movement:
$1:
Doug Christie is a Victoria, BC, lawyer who claims to be merely an advocate of "free speech." But this is not true. Christie does much more than simply defend white supremacists, anti-Semites, and neo-Nazis. He shares their dangerous and despicable views. Indeed, as long ago as 1985, Vancouver broadcaster Gary Bannerman said of Christie's connection to hatemongers that, "Doug Christie has aligned himself so many times with these perverted monsters that he has to be viewed as one himself." Christie sued Bannerman for libel and lost, appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada, and lost again. And as recently as October 20, syndicated columnist Hubert Beyer, who has known Christie for 25 years, noted that he "identifies with his clients views which include a lot of anti-Semitism." (1)
The Clients
The list of far-right extremists defended by Christie is long and telling and includes:
-Ernst Zundel, one of the largest suppliers of pro-Nazi literature in the world.
-Terry Long, former leader of Aryan Nations, Canada.
-James Keegstra, anti-Semitic and white racist schoolteacher.
-Malcolm Ross, anti-Semitic and Holocaust-denying schoolteacher.
-Bill Harcus, Joe Lockhart, and Theron Skyrba, leaders of the Ku Klux Klan in Manitoba.
-Rudy Stanko, one of the leaders of the violent white supremacist organization, the Church of the Creator.
-Tony McAleer and the Canadian Liberty Net, a phone service providing white racist, Holocaust-denial, and anti-homosexual hate messages.
-John Ross Taylor, leading Canadian "ambassador"of the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations.
-Imre Finta, accused war criminal and Nazi collaborator.
-Murray Gauvreau, distributor of militia and racist tapes and books.
-Doug Collins, white racist and anti-Jewish newspaper columnist.
-Wes Mann, founder of the Preferred Network who distributed anti-Semitic hate propaganda and publicizes tours by David Icke.
-Paul Fromm, anti-immigrant and neo-fascist propagandist.
-Eileen Pressler, leader of the anti-Semitic Council on Public Affairs.
-Lady Jane Birdwood, a British aristocrat and one time follower of British fascist leader Oswald Mosley, a dedicated fascist in her own right, and a convicted peddler of hate propaganda. (2)
Like I said, zero credibility. Where are all these separatists? They seem pretty hard to find in Vancouver.
