I think spending almost your entire adult life outside the country makes you highly qualified to be Prime Minister.

i firmly believe that if ignatieff had won the liberals would be on the way to a small majority next election. the dion thing was totally out of left field as fear as i was concerned.

i thought it rather odd that ignatieff was disliked for seeming to be too smart. yeah, we want someone dumber to run the country, that makes sesnse!

I actually supported Dion, but I have to say that he has been a disappointment to date. There doesn't seem to be much cohesion in the ranks. The Conservatives are quite vulnerable on a few issues, but the Liberals seem unable to capitalize. This is the Liberals leadership's incompetence, the Conservatives leadership's competence or a combination of both.

Iggy couldn't win against Dion.

Thats makes him a REALLY BIG LOSER!!!!!

As a conservative supporter the only candidate I feared was Ignatief. Dion just looks and acts weak. He reminds me of the really geeky kid back in high school that everyone made fun of!

question how did over 170 people /user vote in the poll ? that seems too high , that many never vote in these polls .

is someone playing games ? sure the liberals suck but .

I'm sorry, I got so upset I started to stutter.

Looks like a few did.

theres no way that many users voted for that poll . those numbers are way too high .

Iggy has the better image. He appeals more to Canadians than Dion...who comes off as a boring stiff.

Sure, Iggy is a smart guy, but he has the ability to blend and become an "Average" Canadian...even if it's just to put on a brave face.

Dion just can't relate to much of anything.

Once Canadians got a little taste of Dion....they didn't like him....imagine when the spotlight is really turned on him and Canadians see that this guy is nothing like them....it'll be game over.

Dion was a huge mistake....even Liberals know it!

Think Rae would've been better choice! [popcorn] Sammy

Had Ignatief been elected the Liberal Party would have at least appeared like they were serious about doing some housekeeping. Mr. Dion is just more of the same old same old.

ridenrain @ Mon Jul 23, 2007 4:30 pm

I hear the first thing Dion did after being appointed leader was to change the liberal theme song to "send in the clowns".

This is really sad. We almost all agree that almost American egg-head who advocates torture and was a far bigger Bush-buddy than Harper ever was, would have been a better leader than the one they elected.

And for those out west who don't know about this.......

Ignatief was " parachuted " into the Lakeshore/Toronto ryding, over a female Liberal candidate, who had all ready been endorsed by the ryding's Liberal Association members. This was done by the National Liberal Headquarters, with no regard for the local feelings.

Ignatief spoke recently, to a U of T bio ethics conference, of 700 people, as the key note speaker.

His fee was $25,000, and that didn't include his flight from Ottawa, nor his 6 person entourage's tickets, either. Add to that his limo from the airport to his home on Scollard Street in Toronto, and then on to the Marriot to speak and then fly back to Ottawa all in a 6 hour time frame. Nice to see how the other half lives, isn't it ?

I can't imagine what the son of a professional diplomat ( his Father was a Canadian Ambassador to many countries during his career ) and a Harvard prof has to offer this country. He certainly has little if any connection to "average Canadians" of any kind. Add to that his personal point of view, and I have to wonder what the Liberals see in him, but of course they also made Dion the party leader, didn't they ??

Jim B. Toronto.

Iggy likes to play 'unfair' politics. He deserved to lose.

Truedough came from a very wealthy family, yet Canadians voted for him time and time again. Go figger.
