I am a Red Tory. I believe in being Socially liberal, fiscally conservative. Small government is best.
Then why don't you tell "Jesse" to go fuck it whenever he espouses Totalitarianism? If you push any leftist long enough on any topic, they'll always "error" on the side of BIG GOVERNMENT.

Whether it's Healthcare or the Free market...leftists always would rather have government step in and fuck everything up.

It's pathetic. We're in the 21st century. People do banking online and they basically can take care of themselves without the need for a 'One Size Fits All' Government.

Harper made it clear that his goal would be to pull the Feds out of the Provinces and working with the Provincial PM's on their own goals.

Vacouver is different than Manitoba is different than New Brunswick. Why should we expect a hardcore centralized government like the Grits to try and tell the rest of Canada what to do?

It's like any sports. There are different teams, with different playing styles...some win, some lose games...but in the end...THEY ALL PLAY THE SAME GAME.
Because if we left it up to you the country would split up.

You really have to admire someone that so eager to have his province sold out to American and other corporate interests. ...Alberta will have to make its own mistakes. After all oil is less of a renewable resource. Just one new major energy discovery and the Alberta economy will begin to sink with the Atlantic fishery.
This is why Canadians are shifting over to the Right. This type of nonsensical B.S. is what's making everyone go "Sha Right".

Why is it that whenever someone does business with the Americans they are 'selling out'?

As for Alberta's Oil, the'll do JUST FINE, thank you. Unless Ontario is ready to get serious about maintaining it's infrastructure/business, they'd better start repealing a lot of Government B.S. and FAST.

It's funny, but I've read 'rumours' on the net stating that Ontarios Grit PM Dalton McGuinty is secretly 'hoping' for a Tory win. Since he believes Harper will honour his promises of transfer payments to the Provinces.
Is bombardier history? Like I said they are planning a new jet that is projected at over 200 billion is global sales. Does that count?

What is with your fixation on supercomputers? What makes you think that is the only important issue?
What is with your fixation on supercomputers? What makes you think that is the only important issue?
Did you *look* at the numbers? America has 63/100 of the fastest SuperComputers in the world.

It's easy to say that America isn't just 'curious' over the abilities of mass-computational number crunching.

The fact that you even asked that question proves that you are basically out of your league in this topic. Go elsewhere and bitch about social issues, I'll just stay here and make my case for Canada to start investing in R&D once and for all.
Because if we left it up to you the country would split up.
idiocy.

People generally prefer Provincialism over Federalsim. It gives them more say on the National Scale.

The reason why Quebec wanted to seperate is basically they didn't like being ignored by the Feds. Once you remouve Federal interference (Gomery), then you allow Provinces to grow/flourish on their own.

Federalism doesn't make a nation. Provinces growing in their own right is what makes a nation great.
Rabblewatch

The fact that you even asked that question proves that you are basically out of your league in this topic. Go elsewhere and bitch about social issues, I'll just stay here and make my case for Canada to start investing in R&D once and for all.
Canada invests a great deal in R&D. The company I work (a corporation) set up a major R&D shop in the Toronto area after 2 levels of governments paid for the building and gave them all kinds of tax incentives. You claim we should allow American companies to compete in Canada. We DO allow American companies to compete in Canada. IBM came up earlier. You think it's a Canadain company? All the US companies are here. You left "offshoring" out of your tirad. Millions of US IT jobs are offshored to places like India, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and lately Russia and Eastern Europe. A lot of Canadian IT jobs are headed that way too. Our only luck is that some US companies offshore jobs to Canada and help offset at least some of the job losses.

Btw, do you know the main reason why US companies like Canada? Well, it's our public health care. It elliminates the health expenses US employers have to pay. Of course, the Harper government will elliminate this advantage...

In this topic, you are pretty much out of your league.
This guy (Rabblewatch) is so ill informed, I can't help but give him a few (more) kicks. Some of them have been looking for work for years. Many have given up and started retraining for trades (like electrician). Thanks to offshoring, the US is in danger of losing its ENTIRE IT industry to countries like India, and yes, also Canada (we are cheaper than the yanks). For Godsake, read! Here is an interesting link, called Techs Unite. Ontario is doing fine, thank you very much. We don't have oil but we manage, proving once and for all that talent is at least as important as luck (aka access to natural resources).

Rabblewatch, your father was right: you'll never amount to anything!
