That big Chevy blows the doors off of that exotic...
As much as I'm a 1/4 mile guy.......that race is BS. The non-stock Impala is a one purpose built car. The Lambo on the other hand can still corner at the Impala's top speed and listen to the CD player in quiet comfort..........and probably has double the top end speed of the Impala.
More on this race.... Bio-diesel Impala beats Lambo...

The Impala against an Harley...
A duramax? In a car? that's just friggen awesome. Even if it is a Government Motors Company product.
Stemmer. The Impala is nothing more than a dragster built specifically for the ΒΌ mile, straight line race.
The Lamborghini is a street legal rocket that can quite literally run circles around the dragster.
Have you ever heard the term non sequitur ?
The Impala did have drag slicks on for the race, otherwise it's a street legal ride. Did you read the article? The impala's driver let off the gas to let the lambo catch up so it would look better for TV.
If the Impala had the same tires as the Lambo, it would have been a tad closer for sure.
That depends if you make the track all curve, or stick a straighaway in there somewhere. As you can see, the 800 HP chevy doesn't need much straight road to make up a huge difference.
What's the Lambo get for mileage? Anybody know?
Yea, that's what I figured.
Not like it's a competition anyway, the lambo was used as a refrence for how incredibly fast a huge car can go when you stick an 800 HP diesel engine in it.
I would much rather drive the Impala, that's just too cool. And not like you'd ever have to worry about parking beside one like it!
You guys keep talking "fast" and "top speed".
The 1/4 mile isn't about that. It's about acceleration or quickness if you like. The Lambo is fast, faster than the Impala, but it isn't quick. That's also why race bikes aren't as fast as the cars, they don't generate the torque to make them quick. People tend to focus on HP and ignore the torque number.
There is a difference and it's one of the most over looked aspects of a drag race.
Care to explain the diffrence? I'm ashamed to admit it, but I don't have a clue.
