Yes they can, they are either in the way or add too much weight and therefore slow you down!
On second thought, if they stand behind the car that would be OK. I guess. If they have to.

Members of the Edmonton Police Service donate their own pocket money to put this vehicle on the streets. And the track.
You'll see the motivation for this on the back of this car. Keep racing on the track, where it belongs.

I was hot for an Iltis but the ones at the auction were too far gone, all needed serious restoration.
So I settled on a Kei truck getting it ready for next May's Hooterville Hoot. Got the minor rust out of the cab, candy apple stripe and headache rack and Alpine audio so far. Gonna Duradeck the box and find some 13" wheels before the snow flies and finish the paint in the spring.
With the short wheelbase it's like a quad with a heater and stereo!!

How big can you upscale the tires on those little things? That looks to me the biggest drawback.. that and cab space.
