It'll start when they start televising the damn games.

I was none to happy when the leafs decided to "promote" their Leaf TV specialty channel by making sure all pre-season games only get shown there.
If they succeed in getting a good deal of regular season games then I'll be letting them know my displeasure by looking for a new team to cheer for.
Derby I watched them win their last Stanley Cup and they've been my favorite all along, but maybe you should do as I have done for the last couple decades. Wish them well, don't get your hopes up until they are playing the 7th game of the final................AND pick a real team to cheer for. It's the only way I've kept my hockey sanity.

I sorta have before. I cheered for Ottawa when they first started playing. I cheered for them up until they played the Leafs and then I heard the insults their fans hurled at us. I wanted the Leafs to beat them in the playoffs (and they did many many times) but if they lost I would cheer them on. Not so for Ottawa fans in reverse. Kinda soured me on them.
Same thing happened when the Leafs played the Canucks in the Playoffs. Interviews with all the Leaf fans was "great series, great teams and I'll cheer for however wins". Canuck fans "Leafs suck and if we lose to them then I'll cheer for whoever they play next".
Never will I cheer for MTL.
I cheer for the Oilers though. If Toronto gets another team or Hamilton does then ..........
Still, they do look pretty good this year (and so the hope begins its long journey up the cliff where it will inevitably be dashed on the rocks below)

I'm totally with you on the MTL thing bro!!
I've been cheering for a team with local guys that I skate with in the summer.......so lately it's been Pittsburgh and Chicago...........which is actually working out very well.

At least they've won a cup in recent memory.

I've often wondered how Texas where the church of Football resides ever got a Hockey Team. At least the Stars have won the cup in the last 5 years and not the last 50.

Surprisingly they have a pretty good selection of hockey down there. I know lots of guys who played and or coached in the Stars organization and their minor pro teams and loved it. Think Texas is more of a sports crazy state but football of any kind takes the #1 spot.
