Going back to google and child porn.
This thing that the Bush gov't has nothing to do with investigating porn.
If a law enforcement agency is investigating a case of child porn and it lead them to google, then google will fully co-operate. Their policy states that they will co-operate with law enforcement......
The Bush gov't does not investigate or fight child porn. They make laws. They want to get info from google to use as a political tool to argue the merits of a new law they are proposing. They want the statistics of how many people search google for certain words in order to make the case for new anti-porn laws.
Guess what, child porn is already against the law. That means that new anti-porn laws have nothing to with child porn, and everything to do with adult porn......
This has nothing to do with investigating child porn or any other crime.

I find it odd that someone so pro american like you gideon is willing to give up rights that our country has fought for. Freedom from unreasonable searchs is part of the constitution. If you want to give up your rights go to... i dont know Iran, N. Korea, China....
As for me if the gov. has no evidence that can be presented to a Judge who then gives the feds. the right to search said persons searches on the internet they have no bussiness searching mine, yours or anyones actions.
If they think someone is downloading kid porn they should get a warrent and take the persons computer and have an expert go over the harddrive and get the prof.
But with your logic i'll say this: because you might have commited a crime that i'm completely unaware of I think the gov. should come to your house search it document everything and keep files on you, your family and all actions done in your house. Every time you sleep, eat, make love, shit what ever it will now be put into a gov. document. Ohhh and some time just for the fun of it I'll let the gov. put you in jail with no charges.
Watch what you say here gedion you keep talking about kiddy porn it might triger an investigation on you and charges brought aginst you just for typeing the words kid and porn in the same thread.

No, they're merely asking for a set of records from google. Not the whole internet. And they are targeting a specific set of offenders, who engage in activities that are universally despised.
I fail to see the problem here.
No they're filing a subpoena against google because they don't have any evidence to support a law which has been struck down. They're grasping at straws and the subpoena should be rejected. Google is not a part of the civil suit and there is no authority for them to demand this information.

Searching google's records for child pornographers is not unreasonable in any sense of the word. Nobody (credible) has ever fought for the rights of pedophiles.

But I never said that... you did. A classic straw man argument. I have never endorsed warrantless searches of suspected child pornographers' residences.

There are bad apples in every crowd. Canada has many of its own, as does europe. Claiming that the dregs of society represent mainstream America is disingenuous at best.

By searching all of googles records for unnamed person or persons record of what they searched is not a legal warrent. Just like with my example of your house being searched and documented and periodicly recorded. You tell me its ok for them to look into what i did on google on any certin day with out even haveing cause. That is called illegale search and seisure, last time I checked it was in the constitution that the gov. was not allowed to do such a thing.
You might like to have everyone snooping into your searches online but then again i'm sure you dont have much of a problem with people invadeing your privacy for no other reason than ohhh were just doing a random search of your stuff. No worries were here for just one reason to see if your a child molester. I'm sure you would feel real comfortable with haveing the cops go through your house every now and then.
Now if you some how still think that i'm defending a child molester your a sic idiot. What i'm defending is my right not to have an illegal search and seizure done on me. What i'm argueing for is the upholding of my constituinal rights. What your argueing for is the throwing away of my rights.
So if you feel its ok to trash can my rights i'll feel just as free to invade your home and do a search of any dam thing i want.
