So my PC finally crashed. WTF do ya do eh. So I went looking around on line and found this one. I don't know a lot about such things so your input is most welcome. What $$$ is fair for this or similar? I don't do any gaming. Mostly just surfing and downloading pics/vids from my cameras. Invoicing & printing etc. Pretty lightweight stuff, really.

Don't pay more than 150 for something of those specs. More like 130.
A computer with those specs should be free, or pretty damned close to it!
If you're running Win 7 or 8 (I prefer 7 but that's a personal choice), you'll want at least 8 GBs of RAM. You might also want a bigger HD - go for 500 GB minimum, 1 TB might be even better - storage is cheap these days and multimedia sucks up tons of space.
My advice is to go to MemoryExpress the next time you're in town and they can help you pick out what you need.

Something like that would work fine. More ram, bigger hard drive, faster processor. Not going to be fast by any means, but for basic shit it'll do.
Thanks guys.
This gives me a better idea of what I should be looking for.
This gives me a better idea of what I should be looking for.
Yeah, not more than $125 or so. The hard drive is incredibly small, so even if you're just using it for surfing the web, and downloading picture and videos (just say porn next time
) you'll fill that 160 gig in about 45 minutes on a good torrent site.
Refurbed Dells or Lenovos with those specs wholesale for $159. That's WITH Windows7 and the Windows disk included.
$89 with XP... the Vista license isn't worth shit.
Pentium and 2gigs of ram is like my mom's old computer! It SUCKS!!! Don't buy it!!

My phone is superior to that.
^^
Thanks Rosie. I turned the job over to one of my Bro in Edmonton.
Thanks again to all of you. Good info. Just shows what I said in my first post. "When it comes to puters, I don't know sh*t! ![]()
First things you must decide is what you are willing to spend and what you're gonna do with it.
Surf the Internet, run MS Office then any $400 new computer will do.
The one you described and the ones I mentioned are fine for Gramma to Facebook or for a business to do their bookkeeping. That's it.
The same specs in one of those ITX (micro mini size cases) make fine Linux routers, public internet or point of sale terminals.
Saw a pretty decent Asus desktop with AMD FX-8300 quad-core in Future Shop for about $600 the other day.
Yogi, I am right now e-wasting BETTER computers than what you proposed to buy here!
Dell has cheap computers that are way better than that thing you have on here.

And if you want something with some win built into it then maybe look at this company:
http://www.xidax.com/
The best bang for your buck would be a Lenovo ThinkPad new or refurbished and since they're used on the ISS you can't go wrong.
So I have gone over the 'must haves' with my brother & he is going to be either building a new box for me or picking one up. He's microsoft certified and knows his sh*t so I trust his judgement. I didn't want to call him about this as he has been dealing with a medical issue of last several months but now appears to be on the mend.
Everyone of you gave me some really good info and saved me $$$ cuz of course I likely wouldn't have been too happy with my choice and then likely would have put more $$$ into it and then ended up doing what I am doing about it now.
