Canadian Geese in California have earned the moniker of 'Canadian Pigeons'. And for good reason.

Let the homeless eat them. I'm not sure why they don't just open a 12 month hunting season on them and then earn some extra revenue in hunting licenses.

Canada Geese.

Canadian Geese suggests they have passports and winter homes down in Florida, which would mean they're called snowbirds.

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

If I had just taken a sip of my beer when I read that I'd be wiping my monitor right now.

There are now populations of Canadian geese in California who've been identified as non-migratory. Arguably, the non-migratory populations are not protected by international treaties or by US Federal laws concerning migratory birds.

They've learned that it's silly to fly back and forth when you can just hang out at a golf course or park and eat grass all day and poop all day.

So now they are Green Card Geese or American Geese.

It makes too much sense, that's why.

Because having hunters running around NYC shooting at things may not be such a good idea. I think most cities feel that way and ban hunting in city limits. And if you just hunt the geese in their wild habitat the remainder will crowd into the city even more - they're not totally stupid.

I didn't say anything about shooting within city limits. There are plenty of open spaces in this country (not within city/municipal limits) where you can shoot geese.

Just one more group of illegal immigrants moving into California, eh?

Better deport them. They are hanging around and eating grass and pooping all day and taking those jobs away from American geese :P

The hunting of Canada geese is regulated by international convention and to the best of my knowledge the number of days open to goose hunting is already at it's allowable maximum. There might be a way around this if municipal/state or provincial exemptions are allowed for the capture of nuisance geese and the humane killing of them with the meat then going to local food banks.

No, and you obviously didn't read the part that I now underlined. Geese love urban environments. Less predators, no hunting, easier living.

Sort of like welfare recipients.
