Canadian
The Mexican border should draw more attention. The drug violence and corruption south of the border is horrendous.
The Canadian border should be a lot less of a concern. The Canadian Government isn't corrupt and the drug violence is very very liile.
I'm not that concerned about the marijuana, but I'm very concerned about everything else especially cocaine. The misery caused by that drug is eneormous.
I won't even bring uo our lax immigration problems.
$1:
Canada has become a major hub for producing and shipping methamphetamines and ecstasy to markets worldwide, according to a United Nations report released Wednesday.
"Canada, which traditionally consumes a lot of cannabis and produces a lot of cannabis, is also a hub now for methamphetamines and ecstasy, which would likely come as a surprise for Canadians," said Walter Kemp, a spokesman for the UN's Office on Drugs and Crime.
According to the 314-page report by the UN agency, organized crime involved in the methamphetamine trade “has grown significantly” in Canada. Such criminal groups have also increased the amount of methamphetamines they manufacture and export.

Yay for prohibition! It worked so well for alcohol that we'll step it up a notch, and it will work *for sure* this time.
Your suggesting we legalize methamphetamines and ecstasy?
Even if all these things are legal in Canada, it's just the same as the alcohol prohibition because it will still be illegal in the US.
Go talk to Obama and then come back and talk to us.
I would like to take some meth these days with my fatigue.

You're suggesting that it is realistic to ban things that can be made and grown very easily? You actually support the black market? Strange, I would have thought you were against violence.

Very true, people dont get shot or their throats slit over weed, nor do women
EDIT BY MOD for it.Totally different story for cocaine.

Just because your new, dosen't mean that we haven't discussed these things before. I'm actually for legalizing pot so you need to do your homework before you jump to conclusions.
So are we still legalizing methamphetamines and ecstasy?
Is that a new Liberal party platform?

Good for you! I wasn't assuming anything other than it seems like you believe prohibition is a useful strategy.

They don't let me dictate policy unfortunately. You have to go through a whole big rigamarole to do that.
Personally, I don't believe the government has any place telling anybody what they can or cannot do to their own body. The violence that I see around me is mostly due to the very laws that are supposed to be trying to eliminate it. That's just me though, not the Liberal Party of Canada speaking.

Having been on the other side, attempting to treat some of the drug addicted people, the prohibition isn’t nearly strong enough.
The human wreckage with the laws the way they are now is nothing compared to the way things would be if we opened the gates even an inch. The risks that someone avoids just because something is illegal probably saves thousands every year.
What possible good, socially, would occur if we made the various drugs legal? I’ve certainly witnessed the damage done with the relatively small amount of the various products already available. Of course as I’ve pointed out before, unless the US goes first, it would be the complete shutdown of the border if we attempted to legalize them here.

Just stop putting people in jail for a disease that controls their every waking hour. As long as the law is facilitating the black market people will take advantage of it. The more successful the law is at prosecuting people, the more valuable the drug becomes and the more money there is to be made.
Do you believe that people are persuaded from using these drugs because they aren't currently available to them, and if only the law changed they would finally be free to try some crystal meth?
Poquas: I agree with you on hard drugs.
I support letting people grow their own pot because that would kill any organized criminal profit. This would do nothing to resolve the gateway drug issue though.

Yes it would. Kids have access to pot more readily than they have access to cigarettes and alcohol (the real gateway drugs). The same low lifes that they buy pot from also will sell them some cheap stuff that is much more addictive.

Addiction is not a disease.

If the prohibition is removed, a person who may be casually disposed to try various drugs has just been enabled.
