Oh yes that will work...Bad Gang banger you cant wear body armour while packing...you might get a ticket

Why not give police more resources to combat gangs

Tricks @ Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:27 am

Shit, better buy my body armour before that happens!

roger-roger @ Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:33 am

Now its going to be harder for security firms to have body armor. Why didnt he just come out and say he wants a body armor registry, he would have gotten the same response.

CommanderSock @ Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:37 am

This is wrong on so many levels.

"If you outlaw weapons, only outlaws will have weapons."

It's nice to know that the government is efficiently and deliberately disarming its law abiding citizens.

Just to put some things in perspective:

1) Cops wear body army to protect themselves in the event of a criminal using their own gun against them, lets be honest body armour is not designed to stop a high power rifle bullet.

2) Criminals know that body armour that cops wear is designed to only stop a 9mm bullet, cops carry 9mm guns

Remember 4 years ago that shoot out in LA where the cops had to raid the local gun store in order to get weapons that would go through body armour?

Body Armour like a gun should be a controlled item, because those who own it are usually law enforcement or up to no good

If they want do something about body armor, make it so that you cannot purchess body armor in Canada with a criminal record. Most security firms will not look at your resume if you are a convicted fellon.

If this isn't enough evidence why the idiotic NDP need to be relegated to useless opposition status for the next 500 years I don't know what is.
Plus a shotgun has a nasty habit of finding those parts of the body which aren't protected by a vest. Kevlar vests prevent rounds from entering the body, it doesn't make you immune to bullets.

I thought gangsters were already illegal.

This is comming from the same party and people that keep telling us that punishment isn't a deterant and legalization of drugs is the solution to the gang problem. BC has been soft on illegal drugs for a decade so it's small wonder the players think they can get away with murder now.

I wonder how Farnsworth voted on Harper's crime bill. I guess he was holding out for Layton's crime bill instead.

So they want to ban wearing anything over your face in Montreal, and then they want to ban body armour here. Pretty soon, we won't be able to wear much. But that'll be a problem because they banned being naked.

That's not a solution, I think you'll find that the gang-bangers wering body armour did not buy it at the local gun shop.

uwish @ Fri Jan 23, 2009 1:29 pm

you can buy body armour off the net. Has nothing to do with gun shops per say.

That's not a solution, I think you'll find that the gang-bangers wering body armour did not buy it at the local gun shop. You'll also find that gang members out on bail or awaiting trail or on probation/parole are already banned from possesing body armor, but that doesn't stop them.
They should make it that you cannot purchase body armor in Canada period, who needs it other than cops and armed security guards.
