When does Russia get to host the G8, or China the G20? It'd be one of the few times that you could cheer for their security forces.

As if the leftists would be stupid enough to pull such shit in one of the authoritarian countries they love.

ShepherdsDog @ Sun Jun 27, 2010 7:12 pm

I'm not sure the Blackheads have any real political ideology other than spreading chaos. They aren't progressive ...just destructive.

RUEZ @ Sun Jun 27, 2010 7:23 pm

These "protesters" have actually done far more harm than good for any alleged cause they support.

Bodah @ Sun Jun 27, 2010 7:54 pm

Whats ironic is that they've just deflated all of the criticism regarding the security bill. For a bunch of people that likely hate Harper a whole lot their to stupid to realize how much they helped him out.

Idiots.

I'm not sure how it's been deflated, considering the 'protesting' at this summit was apparantly benign in comparison to other summits and hardly worth the cost of security.

Although, this could just be the Post being butt-hurt over some of their photographers being arrested for being 'amongst violent people', lulz.

Hopefully the next summit actually provides something substantial.

We can only assume you have not been paying attention.

Well from what I've read, it's come off as a pat on the back. It's nice that they believe they are going to cut the deficit, but with the impeding climate change initiatives, and whatever unforseen expenses come along, I think they'll have their work cut out for them.

Also, it irks me that there is never any action plan for these decisions. Just, 'we've gotta do better folks' and a hearty shoulder slap.

What else did they announce that I missed?

EyeBrock @ Sun Jun 27, 2010 10:03 pm

stokes stokes:
I dont get it?

Maybe I am getting old and maybe I becoming more Liberal (f*&k I hope not), but I have seen the cops search people unlawfully and confiscate swim goggles and other innocent items without a proper explanation or reference to the criminal code.

On the other hand it is hard to get bent out of shape with what the police are doing when a small group has taken it upon themselves to be destructive, not just towards the police but to honest hard working people who still need to earn a living.

If they were concerned about freedom they should chain themselves to that monstrosity of a fence, then people might actually listen.

I am glad that they attempted to have a safe protest area too bad others would rather cause violence than allow the right to free speech and freedom of assembly happen peacefully

I just got back from two 17 hour days at the G20. Very interesting.

Why walk down a Toronto street in 38 deg humidity with swimming goggles and no other swimming gear? Far from innocent.

These people ‘protesting’ were led by those who just want to destroy things.

There was in inordinate amount real tossbags that were arrogant and condescending. They were openly supporting the anarchists like the destructive sheep of the Black Bloc et al and were generally being obnoxious to the cops.

The day after they burned our cars and trashed our city.

We got a lot of support from the real citizens of Toronto today, despite the presence of these sour ersatz- subversives without a cause.

People brought cookies and drinks out to the guys on the lines.

Those real Torontonians are angry at the destruction these rioters brought to our city, and for what good reason?

What was their message?

Does anybody know what it is or are they just criminals?

All I saw were burning cop cars and broken store windows. And huge amount of really nasty people.

people you wouldn't mind meeting off duty I'm sure.

Proculation @ Mon Jun 28, 2010 5:39 am

They succeeded at one thing. By reading the blogs this morning, everybody talks about "police brutality" and "agents provocateurs" (???)

I'm quite sure that was the plan: provoke the police, get beaten, film the beating, put it on youtube and cry about police brutality.

Btw, I found the "agents provocateurs"

The police handled these scum with kid gloves. A stronger reaction is what was required. Canada is not, nor has it ever been about tolerating criminal behaviour. That is not accepting differences of opinion.

Even if they did, the protesters are VERY good at manipulation of the masses with the Internet. You will still hear that it was like "a police state in Toronto" and that the policemen were "hitting everyone for fun and arbitrarly" .

EyeBrock @ Mon Jun 28, 2010 12:15 pm

The protesters and their supporters had no point to make except call the cops ‘assholes’ and smash windows.
Those arrested were arrested for very good reasons.
All of them were given lots of warnings prior to arrests. They just chose to disregard us.

All this talk of 'innocent bystanders' is bollocks. What the fuck were they doing in the middle of a riot?

Even on Sunday we had idiots (not press, we called them ‘riot tourists’) coming up with cameras and sneaking around the lines to get in the middle of the riots.

We had enough to worry about without looking out for the safety of people purposely putting themselves in harm’s way despite our best efforts.

Most of the press were utter wankers and were dressed just like the Black-bloc guys and acted like their supporters.

Most of them consistently ignored our requests and direction and consequently some got locked up.

Tossers.

I agree 100% on that !
They WANT to be beaten/arrested and cry "police brutality" after. That's bullshit.

I've "been" in a riot in Montreal once. I was there because I was getting out of non-related place nearby. We were just there in the crowd, watching. The "SWAT" arrived and circled us by 3 streets, leaving one to get out. At that point, we left and passed by the "SWAT" without any intervention. We watched from outside the "circle" after and those who were arrested were 1) throwing things, 2) confronting the police by yelling and without moving. That's it. Everyone who were calm could have gone if they wanted.

Have you been back to Canada lately Shep? It's all about tolerating and coddling criminals.

BTW, good job EB! [B-o] Any time off after a "fun" weekend?
