Looks like more people are getting uppity over this:

Montrealers protest street name honouring Brit general
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... hub=Canada

$1:
MONTREAL -- Protesters in Montreal are calling on the city to yank the name of a controversial British general from its street signs.

About a dozen demonstrators gathered in front of city hall Monday to demand that politicians change the name of Amherst Street, which honours Jeffery Amherst.

They waved Quebec flags and chanted "Amherst criminal" and "Amherst murderer" in front of city hall.

In a successful military career, Amherst led British forces to victory against the French in Canada in the mid-1700s.

But some believe he used smallpox-infected blankets and handkerchiefs as a form of biological warfare against native Americans.

The protest was organized by the separatist group Young Patriots of Quebec.

They also shouted "Montreal, en francais" and demanded that all Montreal street names be translated to French.

What a bunch of idiots.

#1 - How long has this street name been there? It would seem nobody had an issue with the name until just now. Why?

#2 - "But some believe he used smallpox-infected blankets and handkerchiefs as a form of biological warfare against native Americans."

^ Some believe.... was it ever found to be true?

Don't think so, or else it would have been stated as fact, not "some believe" ~ So this is just yet another nazi-french witch-hunt excuse to yet again, try and change their history and landmarks into some imaginary french wonderland and to foget about their own true history or that they're actually a part of Canada. English is the enemy afterall and we're all out to destroy them

#3 - It's a fk'n street name... gtf over it people.

An independent politician in City council speaks out and a dozen or so people showed up in protest and yet, the media is all over that!

That's it. That confirms it. Quebec needs to be its own sovereign nation now !!!

I have the bloc on there because I do like M. Duceppe.. I don't like the bloc. I put it on here to bug someone who is now banned.. I don't know how to remove it to be honest..

That's the separatists' job, not quebecers'.

Most people don't give about that, but the few anglophobic/paranoid/fascist retards get all the press.

Montreal is a pretty multicultural place, I don't think that the number of separatists is high enough there to get this thing done.
