Now, this is about fucking time. Our immigration law is now in line with the United States, we don't want losers coming to Canada.

"criminally inadmissible" go fuck your hat!!

You got caught smoking pot in 1975, ergo you can't enter Canada.

What fucking bullshit.

Can't do the time, don't do the crime. Simple.

Don't cry about it now, like a Bitch!!

The USA has the same policy, it's great to see Canada bring in line our immigration policy to meet the U.S.

Canadian officials now have the same access the USA has had for decades and can now ban or deport a person who has committed a crime in the past.

People of that moral statute never change.

Maybe people should have thought of that before they decided to do something illegal, regardless of personal opinion on whether or not it should be.

I believe everyone is entitled to a mistake. If you got caught in 1975 and haven't been charged since...what's the harm?

Because someone believes something different doesn't necessarily give the the right to break the law. It may have been done a long time ago, they may have never been caught, but it doesn't change the fact it was illegal.

So is speeding, should we be banned from going outside our Country? Law is law, right?

Hmm, so breaking the traffic laws that are there to ensure public safety on the roadways is Ok to you?

That doesn't answer her question...

No, but I'm asking if someone were to get a speeding ticket....should they be banned from going to Florida? Everyone has pushed the law one way or another....wether they were caught or not. Now adays, getting caught with a joint is a misdemenor sp? Which only warrants a fine. When you were 14 did you walk the straight line?

uwish @ Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:03 pm

I see this as more of a "tit for tat" move, the US does it to Canadians entering the US, so know we do it to Americans entering Canada.

I think this is also a response to the "need a passport rule", a subtle way of face slapping I think...

get caught and see if you'll be going to the USA

This is pretty basic. You break a law, you take the consequences. It's not a foreign concept. It doesn't matter if you think it's minor and shouldn't count. It's still law. If you don't like it, elect the liberals or green party and have them change it.

SupportingOurTroops @ Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:22 pm

I never once said it shouldn't count. I'm saying no one is perfect and if someone has mended their ways ( in such a minor offence ) they should be given that opportunity. I'm pro life, it has nothing to do with Liberalism or the GP. Funny how people with HIV can roam the World, infect unsuspecting partners, yet you smoke a joint when you were 17 and you are grounded.
