a secret ?

No, no, no, that won't do.
We are bad white people who must tax ourselves into poverty, so we can get all moralistis to the Chinese, who just laugh and don't give a hoot.

Bad, bad whitey.

Here's an interesting little trivia tidbit I think I read somewhere.

I think it said peat bogs sink 10 times the CO2 tropical rainforests do. I think the world's largest peat bog is Burn's bog in Delta BC.

So we're doing our job in the lower mainland. No carbon tax for us then.

You're up Fort McMurray.

Alta_redneck @ Mon Nov 07, 2016 12:22 am

Fort McMurry planting 1000's of trees, planting other native vegetation on newly reclaimed land and introducing native animals such as Woodland Buffalo, basically starting a whole new eco-system. And lets not forget their also cleaning up Gods oil spill one truck load at a time. No Carbon Tax for them

Saskatchewan How about you

The project the world is watching.

SaskPower is leading the way to make a viable technical, environmental and economic case for the continued use of coal. The Boundary Dam Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage Project in Estevan,Saskatchewan, Canada is the world’s first and largest
project of its kind.

Points for everything but the Buffalo.

The icecap is melting and polar bears are weeping because of Buffalo farts.

Shame

This has nought to do with "carbon neutrality". The government wants to take more of our money and they can pull this one off without calling it a "tax" and while claiming that they are saving the planet. Its a brilliant scam.

Don't get me started!

Remember when we were young and innocent and would make jokes about how the govt would tax the air we breathe if they could figure out how? Well, the motherfuckers figured out how.

and people think this is a good thing, if you want direct results of what bad energy policy looks like, take a look at Ont and their Hydro bills. Tell you what, lets talk in 12 months when your electricity bill more than doubles because of 'green' energy. People said it wouldn't happen in Ontario either, well guess what! they have seen >100% in utility bill costs. Alberta is fast following Ontario's lead on this debacle, once we know the full scale of 'carbon' pricing I will post bills pre and post. Then you can all tell me how wonderful it is, I am expecting ~130% increase by this time next year, and not just in generation, but in distribution and access fees as well. And all of this is based on junk science and will have NO affect to global emissions AT ALL.

Ontario's hydro rates have increased by around 400% over the last decade or so now. But it's not the rates that's killing people here, it's the goddam tax, that idiotic "global adjustment fee" which essentially means you pay 4 times as much for hydro than what you actually use. Now the million dollar question is, since the Ontario govt put out an ad saying that Ontario's hydro generation is 99.7% emissions free, why the hell are Ontarians paying a "global adjustment fee", aka a carbon tax, on a utility that is virtually emissions-free?

Lemmy @ Mon Nov 07, 2016 11:47 am

I'm thinking you don't understand what the "Global Adjustment fee" is. It has nothing to do with what you're claiming it does.

BeaverFever @ Mon Nov 07, 2016 5:27 pm

Isn't it to pay for adjusting all the crooked globes? The axis on mine seems to have tilted about 23.5 degrees and I've been waiting forever for them to come by and fix it. The thing looks damn ridiculous!

Not compared to the ridiculous stupidity posted on this thread.
