You don't get to fire a C-7 until the 9th Weekend of QMB (I think QMB translates into MBQ in english), so they'll have plenty of time to discipline you :P.

Anybody else think the PT test is a joke? 19 push-ups, 19 sit-ups and 6 on what we call the beep test here... I think it's a bit less for women.

PT was easy. It was the hurry up and wait that challenged most.

The standard is the same for men and women (last time I conducted a basic anyway) but the standards were drastically dropped in order to facilitate the entry of women and fat people.

When I did my basic we started with 54 and were told that more then half of us would be failed and we graduated with 21 while rest were made to watch us and then clean the parade floor before being released to civilian life. There were also no restrictions on how early/long/late they could works us, on touching or personal insults etc.

Of the 21 graduates one quit to resume his career as an extreme fighter, one left and is a Canadian actor you have all seen (I'm not telling), 3 others quit to pursue unknown interests, one died in Afghanistan, another was discharged following severe injuries in Afghanistan, 4 are now in the primary reserve (one of them yours truly) and the rest are still actively serving.

Having trained recruits this is what I feel:

The quality of young men joining has deteriorated and I feel this is a reflection on our society. They are lazy, weak and often over weight or exceedingly out of shape, even by civilian standards.

The quality of women joining has increased and they are generally more prepared prior to arrival.

The army program has been gutted thanks to Human Rights legislation and a belief that making it easy will attract more candidates but has had the opposite effect turning out inferior soldiers whose attrition rate approaches 50%.

Maybe it is different in other LF's

I agree, even though I'm probably among those newer people. At the same time though, I've seen a lot of great new recruits, and a few bad ones who really don't care. There are good and bad apples everywhere, I can't compare with the past though.

During my basic there were restrictions on how much sleep we must receive, but they did wake us up quite a few times (fire alerts). They couldn't touch us, unless it was to correct a bad drill movement (bad feet positions for example) and personal insults were limited to basically "you look like a dancer" when we learned drills.

The worst thing we did was probably sort the garbage/recycle bin after somebody didn't recycle correctly.

When I enlisted they told me the standard was different. Perhaps I'll have to doublecheck that.

You do realize that soldiers hack on saliors and we both hack on airmen, right?
