With a few exceptions, in the area of documentaries, I'd have to agree.

I tend to find Canadian programs, for both children and adults, delightfully entertaining for the most part.

Do you watch childrens programs?

That crap will liquefy your brain.

Yer calling "Littlest Hobo" crap now? Put up your dukes, buddy!

I don't see why he picks on Canadian TV. 90% of ALL TV is crap. Alberta is getting really Quebeccy these days with their anti-Canadian sentiment.

He's right.

Lets be honest here. How many Canadian programs do we all watch?

For me its CTV National News and I watched the Olympics. I never watched one Canadian series this year. Everything they produce is crap. They have this notion they have to go all diverse and artsy on us to represent Canadian 'uniqueness' and it comes off just odd... Like Hell I will ever sit through 'Little Mosque on the Prairie'. Their problem is they try so hard to make the programming non-American that they fail to realize that the American format is what we like.

So all it is for us is a money pitt for tax dollars to prop up an industry.

I have two little sisters, a step-sister and another baby sister/brother on its way. I know a fair bit of childrens programming. Honestly, Johnny Test and Atomic Betty aren't that bad. :P

Canadian--zero. American--zero.

It's all crap. But the anti-Canada types can't wait to jump on Canada because somehow Canada's is supposed to be even crappier than crappy American TV.

In the last week, I've watched about an hour's worth of 'regular' TV(mostly BBC or CNN). Total, about 5....most of which has been on one of the Discovery Channels, History TV or one of the Nat Geo Channels.

Discovery Canada has stuff I watch (wee for Canada's Worst Driver and Handyman, along with a few other specials and shows) and I did follow Corner Gas, since it was a pretty fun show (kind of tailed out at the end there), but otherwise we do not produce a lot of original, broadly entertaining television. If we increase funding, I have to wonder if this cash will go into what we want or into something, as said previously, which doesn't accurately caputure the interests of a Canadian audience.

As Zipperfish said, most TV these days is crap. I do love Big Bang though...

The last show I watched was Prime Suspect. BBC I think. Awesome. And there was an HBO one called "The Wire" that was unreal. I did have a soft spot for Corner Gas though I only saw it three or four times. There was a great CBC miniseries a while back about a demented hockey dad--frickin hilarious. That was the only decent thing I ever remember seeing on CBC.

I do enjoy Canadian-produced shows such as the three Stargate series.

Thanos @ Wed Jun 16, 2010 9:56 pm

As long as he didn't diss SCTV or the Trailer Park Boys I really don't care.

I know they are done in Canada (as was Andromeda, wasn't it?) but weren't they all done by American companies?

SCTV > SNL
Can't see any of those actors today without thinking Earl Camembert, Count Floyd, Edith Prickley.
And John Candy....
