<strong>Canadian</strong>
Here at UNBSJ we used to have notices on the wall that said "Cold Can Kill."
The poor things going to another country that does not bend over back wards for them. Wonder how much acomidation a christian would have in their country while attending a university. How much alcohol would they provide. How many times would they open the pool for both men and womans use. How many times would I have been asked if the Katrina huricane fund was realy for support of the Iraqi war. Wonder if they would make a room avaliable for me to pray and worship in. Would I be insulted by being called a imperialist pig or some other remark?
Now how much should we bend over for them when they wont divert thier ways for me when I'm in their country.
I have to agree completly with stratos on this one. You have in France the third generation family not even knowing the french language, you have them changing tradition in la cabane(or whatever it is called) with the maple syrup having to adapt to muslim rules while they cannot adapt to ours, I se something wrong with that.
Boo frickin' hoo...
If they want to go swimming, they can either rent the pool and do what they want or adapt to the Canadian public's preferences. I'm against racism and outright harassment (like the shoving/swearing) but there has to be a line drawn somewhere when it comes to parties and going swimming.
Harassment of muslim students - completely uncool. 'Nuff said.
Demands for not only women-only swim hours but removal or blocking of windows so that swimmers cant be seen - completely rediculous. We stand for equality of the sexes in this country. If you can't accept that, you shouldn't have come, or you should reevaluate your priorities.
Central, comfortable space in which to pray - very reasonable. U of A has an entire building dedicated to Christian study, St. Joseph's college. Muslims deserve adequate (sufficient size, and easily accessible) space too.
Hey now, if I'm traveling to another country I'm going to check out the weather. When I head to Australia I'm not going to bring a Parka. So the same should be said for international students that come here, they should check out what the climate is like.
