Why not have a class in Public School and High School that teaches youth how to clean a weapon, and about Gun safety.
They used to do just that but stopped doing so in the 60's. Combination of Anti Vietnam war and the Left starting to gain a majority in the educational field, as far as I can tell. Looking back on my school years 70's and 80's I can name a lot of teachers that were very Left in their thinking and teaching. Not radical but enough to the Left that as an adult I can look back and tell.

Purchasing a gun and learning how to properly use one IMO is a different matter.

Sad thing is while Mass Shootings were happening under the Obama admin. they (congress) did nothing. Now it's seems they are blaming Trump for all the shootings and by god we are going to do something now.
Only had a democrat congress for 2 years (2009 to 2011).

I don’t know about that. I graduated from a city high school in Kentucky in ‘67. We were not taught gun safety but there was a club run by a retired CO. If you went to their summer camp you could get firearms training.

I got firearms training from my cousins.
Practised pistol shooting with a CO2 pistol that fired darts... actually playing darts.
Can you even buy those in Canada now... asking for a friend?

I haven't seen darts for air guns since the 80's.
Unless you count Nerf guns.
