Perhaps this is why Harper is so against legalizing mary-jane.

Makes a good argument...

Or a pretty terrible one. What kind of parents consume that much whiskey together when they have a kid? Pot or not every decision Mr. Long made that day was foolish.

But he's not fighting hard to criminalize booze because...?

Politicians have a habit of saying if it's already in place, it's much harder to change...

And keeping pot criminal is much more politically sound than bringing back prohibition.

What's with the loser parents lately? There have been some pretty outrageous stories lately about the complete incompetence of some people to raise children. Leaving a baby in an oven? Please...

$1:
Long blamed his actions on the marijuana, which he believes was laced with a hallucinatory agent, officials said.

No shit eh?

Why was only dad charged and why does the headline only mention him as leaving the baby in the oven. Mom was there too, and just went to bed. So what, she told him, "make sure to take the baby out of the oven before you go to bed"? And that's OK?

What a load. Pot was decriminalized until Harper started his "suck on Bush's ass" routine. Fuck man, what the HELL is it with our Conservative PM's and the Bush family?
It's actually real easy to re-decriminalize pot if we quit letting the US tell us how to run our country.

I personally would like to see pot legalized completely monitored very closely. I don't want to be walking down the street, then suddenly get high of a cloud of pot. The tax revenue makes the non-users happy, while the legalization makes the users happy.

Win-win.

I don't like wandering down the street and having to walk through a cloud of tobacco smoke either, but it happens. And as for getting high off someone's puff that has been blown into the air I wish you the best of luck.

If we want to trade with the US, we're going to be seriously influenced by how they handle pot in their country. We're already hassled at the borders because of the volume of bud we "export". If we liberalize the laws, they're going to make trade impossible. So it becomes simple. Satisfy a few thousand potheads in Canada or continue relatively open trading with the US.

I'd rather walk thru a could of pot smoke than step in the piss some drunk left behind.

Bingo, legalize it and subject it to the same rules and laws as alcohol. No public consumption.
And don't worry, you'd have to try pretty hard to get a "contact high" from a puff of smoke exhaled outdoors

As for this story. I can't count how many times my dad would get drunk and decide to cook something. Only by the grace of God did our home not burn down.
I came home one day and found a stewing pot on the stove burned down to the top ring. That's all that was left. THis happened kinda regularily.
Both my wife and I smoke weed. I don't drink. I've never passed out with the stove on, no matter HOW high I was.
Oh, and I've never put a kid in the oven either, no matter how fried I was.

The laws WERE liberalized and it didn't affect trade one bit. All it did was give Dubya one more thing to bluster about. Clinton sure didn't seem to have much issue with our decriminalization of pot.
