About time.
We usually end up doing the right thing, after we try everything else first.
We should have grounded the broken aircraft immediately.
If another of those planes had gone down anywhere before our ban I would have joined the Conservative Party.
Ironically I just recently binged watch all 18 seasons of Air Crash Investigation or as its know in Canada, Mayday just recently.
The concept is sound for the automatic pitch down attitude to prevent a stall condition. Because there have been dozens and dozens of cases where pilots lose their spatial orientation or get fixated on one task ( tunnel vision ) they start to ignore the obvious which ends up in a crash. The famous Air France Flight 447 for example. The pilots kept the nose up despite losing air speed and altitude until they hit the ocean.
What is shitty is how the Lion Air Crash incident was almost swept under the carpet instead of Boeing thoroughly testing the AOA sensors, finding whats wrong with then and then reinstalling new upgraded ones on all MAX 8s.
And this is not the first time something like this has happened, in the 70s the DC 10s had their cargo doors blowing open mid flight causing crashes, until finally the cargo door locking mechanism was fixed by McDonell Douglas.
Just flashed on the ticker tape. Trump has announced that all US 737 Max 8's have been grounded.

So I guess that leaves Boeing as the sole voice world wide to keep claiming that this plane is perfectly safe and there's "nothing to see here folks".
But it really makes a person wonder why anybody would build a plane car or other conveyance without the ability for the operator to override the computer when it goes full blown HAL 9000 on them?
BTW does this sound a little like Boeing right now?
Perhaps people should have bought the Bombardier C Series instead.
So the black box went to Europe for analysis. Ethiopia refused to send it to the FAA...
Nope. Boeing operates a little too close and comfy with the FAA / Government...
Boeing shares fall again after news reports question 737 Max certification process
Flawed oversight.
