I can do without seeing people flaming each other because they don't agree with you (especially when it's about cars).

ESPECIALLY if the car poster is racist! ROTFL

Some people talk about their brand of car, hockey team and political party like, what they call, "zealots" talk about their religion.

What I am wondering is, if they are taking out Evolution, what are they replacing it with. I highly doubt this asinine legislation is going to pass. Alberta has some of the best schooling in Canada, I dont think they are going to remove something as important as evolution.

No one was talking about taking out evolution; they were talking about allowing parents to be able to have their children excused from the lesson if they choose. I think it would be a terrible idea but if a parent wants the right to raise their child as an uneducated imbecile, I suppose they should have that right. I remember when I was in Grade school in Calgary they had to get parent consent forms signed for the sex ed classes. I guess this isn't much different.

You may disagree but in Canada people have the right to practice their religion. After 16 children also have the right to get no education at all.

'Practising' and 'learning' aren't the same thing. And in Ontario, you have to be 18 to quit school.

Sure. And North Korea is not a socialist state. Maybe it's the economy classes that are not compulsory :P

I lived in Singapore for a year. I've published 4 papers in FEER on Singapore's economy and my PhD disertation was a study of Singapore's labour substitution policy. I think I'll trust my expertise on Singapore over yours. And I still haven't found anyone anywhere but on this forum that believes North Korea is socailist. :)

Well, I admit I just went from Economic Freedom Index. Can you explein how Singapore is a centraly planned economy then ? All I have read says that's the less intrusive place for a business. That's not really centrally planned for me. Sounds more like free-market.

And... NK is socialist :P

I doubt you would feel the same way if they proposed to let kids be excused from .

Did you read my post? I was saying that it would be stupid to allow kids to not be educated in evolution. And yes I think it would be stupid to excuse kids from taking Shakespeare or Algebra. You either missed the sarcasm or looked at the blue C beside my avatar.

Well, without going into a great deal of detail, wages and employee contracts are set by government. Price controls are frequently used. Conglomerates are not permitted. There is a tremendous degree of central planning, which is NOT capitalistic.

And as for NK, I'm perfectly ready to eat that shoe as soon as someone agrees with you...no one has yet.
