That little fucker should be sitting in prison now.

DrCaleb @ Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:26 am

I laughed back then too, because that's the reason Facebook exists - to sell you to advertisers.

Freakinoldguy @ Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:39 am

Agreed. Anybody stupid enough to believe a billionaire's claim that he won't do something to generate more income is either nieve or just plain dense.

But in this day and age he isn't the only one selling your information for profit so don't be surprised if alot more of these whistle blowers don't show up in these information for profit schemes.

Attaching a cell number to your Facebook account via the app means they own you.

I am so glad I never did the fb thing. I had a couple of friends that were really annoyed with me that I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon way back then when it first started up. It all just didn't seem... right to me. Sure, there are people from the past I'm curious about but if I'm meant to know where they are at I'll find out if I'm meant to, just like in the past year alone I've run into people randomly that I haven't seen for years (high school, past co-workers)yet we have connected anyway in person! :D .

I've known a few people now that have had fb crap that has affected them in a negative way. It's a shitty thing when "friends" can inadvertenly, in some caes, fuck you over and another all together when your information can be used in other ways. No surprise at all that the shit is hitting the fan.

I checked that out and Google has some of my You Tube history but that's it.

Facebook has some more but it's limited since I dropped off of FB a month or so back.

Same here but just to be safe I went through my account and shut off pretty much anything that doesn't have a direct search requirement.

Now to see what info of mine that our friendly little social enigneer Mr. Zuckerberg sold. :P

You can find out to an extent. If you go your general account settings tab, there's a link where you can download your FB data. It takes a min or two to process, but its interesting...

Growth At Any Cost: Top Facebook Executive Defended Data Collection In 2016 Memo — And Warned That Facebook Could Get People Killed

$1:
On June 18, 2016, one of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s most trusted lieutenants circulated an extraordinary memo weighing the costs of the company’s relentless quest for growth.

“We connect people. Period. That’s why all the work we do in growth is justified. All the questionable contact importing practices. All the subtle language that helps people stay searchable by friends. All of the work we do to bring more communication in. The work we will likely have to do in China some day. All of it,” VP Andrew “Boz” Bosworth wrote.

“So we connect more people,” he wrote in another section of the memo. “That can be bad if they make it negative. Maybe it costs someone a life by exposing someone to bullies.

“Maybe someone dies in a terrorist attack coordinated on our tools.”

The explosive internal memo is titled “The Ugly,” and has not been previously circulated outside the Silicon Valley social media giant.

...and that was all OK until President Trump used it to connect to voters

Obama also used Facebook to connect to voters in 2008, 2012.

Thanos @ Thu Mar 29, 2018 9:15 pm

Yeah, but it wasn't until 2016 that Vladimir Putin used FB to connect to American voters. :|
