Hopefully it lasts for a while longer and kills off as many mountain pine beetles as possible. We've been long overdue out here for a cold snap of this nature.

Where are you this time? Australia?

ziggy @ Tue Jan 29, 2008 2:26 pm

Dont get me wrong,i love my job, especially when a noob environmentalist in jeans decides to come up north and show how bad global warming is becoming and he's on the same otter.I see a few scientists and they really must believe the ice caps are melting because they come dressed in summer gear. They all want an iconic pic of a polar bear drowning on the dwindling ice so they can make some money because thats what these guys are all about, selling a book or getting a grant.

Most of them get a lesson that there is life outside Toronto and Canada's a HUGE country.

And after a vist they usually will never go back. Most never leave their hotel rooms, write there stuff there where it's nice and warm. How are the masses reading his material to know if he actually ventured out of the hotel or didnt?,most dont.

Most of them get off the Saab turbo-prop in Baker and are greeted with a blast of anything up to -80(I have pics!)when they step off the plane and the only thing on their mind is where the fuck is my room? Fuck me it's fucking cold! When can I fucking leave?

Guess ya have to be there.

Say hi to my niece, she lives in Brisbane, and my uncle in Gold Coast :P

Oh, and while you are at it, ask them to send me a ticket

They also lose my luggage every single time somewhere like Yellowknife so I'm wearing like 3 layers or a couple of days of clothing with me.I'm getting on the plane tomm. morning with a set of insulated snow pants on top of long undies and 2 pairs of sweats,My $700.00 Canada Goose parka has ten pockets in the front, all filled with flashlights and those handwarmer things, spare big fur mitts just in case,a couple of chocolate bars,my GPS,toothbrush and paste(new in the box and in a ziplock for the airport security assholes)My cel which should work untill Yellowknife.

Im going to look like Cartman and I hope they dont ask me to empty my pockets.

With ten pockets I can also sneak in a few extra bic lighters, hate it when they take them off me.There's no stores within 100 miles of camp,it's like a game on how many lighters you can sneak through security.pathetic.
