I'm sorry, but I have tasted, yes, TASTED the air in India and I can tell you we are NOT the worst offenders. Put the blame where it belongs. That's one thing Harper seems to be good at even though it costs us international recognition.

"Groups declare Canada world's biggest environmental offender at climate talks"
WE'RE NUMBER 1!!! WE'RE NUMBER 1!! [B-o]

Science is accepted because experiments can be repeated. The man-made global warming folks have not proven their case and most people are rejecting them.

You cannot experiment with the weather. Or Astrophysics. Data is data, whether it's from observation or from experimentation. And the non-AGW folks have also not proven anything with the data either.

Which is why I'm in the 'natural cause, but we still need to combat the environmental pollution' crowd.

ridenrain ridenrain:
"The percentage of Americans who believe global warming is happening has dipped from 80 to 72 percent in the past year, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, even as a majority still support a national cap on greenhouse gas emissions. "

Opinion also isn't science.

That link you put up on Friday had the UK well above Canada on CO2.....Which stats are true here?

No offence but you wouldn't know science if it was dancing on a table in a pink tutu singing "She Blinded Me with Science." You simply don't know what you're talking about on the subject, it's obvious to anyone with an inkling of how science operates that you don't know what you're talking about and you don't seem to have the wisdom not to make grand pronouncements on subjects you know nothing about.

Proculation @ Sun Dec 20, 2009 4:52 pm

Australia ? What are they doing to produce so much CO2 ?

@Artic_Menace: that's the problem. We hide the real environmental problems with the famous and non-pollutant, CO2. When I here about oil in Alberta, I don't care about the CO2 but I care about the pollution the oil production does. That's not pretty.

From the poll numbers, 3/4 don't believe in man made global warming so it looks like my peers outnumber your peers. Al Gore and his lackies haven't proved global warming and all their high paid help hasn't either.

Science is repeatable results and erasing your results do they can never be questioned is criminal and suspicious.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/env_c ... -emissions

Well this link has them only slightly higher then us and the data is from 2003 collected by the World Resources Institute.

The Wiki link is from 2006 and they are still only slightly higher but at double the population they are better per capita. Data collected from the Carbon Dioxide information analysis centre for the UN.

My global jerks link is 2007 from the US Energy Information Administration.

3 different sources with some time variability accounts for the discrepancies but we are still pretty much tied with the UK although they will no doubt slam us because they are half per capita.

The main thing to take from all of this is that Canada is no where near the CO2 polluter we are being called and that even if we drop our emissions by 50%, an unattainable goal without reverting to being a society of hunter/gatherers, it will make little impact compared to China and the US dropping theirs even 10%.

Unless those 2 countries take the lead and make a substantial effort then they are just kidding themselves. The US wants to be a world leader then they should act like it. China wants respect? Taking the lead on climate change might do just that. Picking on Canada just makes a bunch of idiots feel better because they think they are doing something. If they spent even half the resources they used bitching about us just planting trees and shrubs they might have done just that.
