$1:
Harper said that he may be prepared to announce sanctions against the African nation and encouraged other nations to pressure Robert Mugabe's regime.

"Our government has condemned the corrupt vote in the strongest possible terms," he said in a speech for B'nai Brith International on Friday. "We are working with the international community to bring in strong measures to pressure the Mugabe regime which has illegitimately stolen the election."

Like what? We won't let their cricket team tour like the Brits have done? That'll sure shake Mugabe up.

Now bush and harper are thinking. Better to oppose the results of an election where the millions and millions you spent to support the opposition and still lost are fresh in your mind, then to have to spend billions more overthrowing that guy covertly a year or two later.

Really, I think this Mugaby guy is bad and deserves to have his nuts chopped off...but why did the CIA's foreign political reorganization unit fail so miserably to get their puppet appointed? Are they under funded? Is their intelligence in Africa faulty? What use is the CIA if they can't sway the election of a little place like Zimbabwe? How can they expect to influence a huge and richer nation under Chavez when they can't even defeat Mugaby?

Nice to see the Canadian government actually react to the outside world in real time, not months after.

He is just sounding off so people will think he gives a shit.. he is probably trying to figure out how he can fix the next election here at home ;)

It's about condemning a fixed election and a crooked,
despotic government in Zimbabwe....and that's all.
A country's leader is expected to make comments in such circumstances.

If you Harper-bashers need to use the oppression of
another county's citizenry as an excuse for pointless domestic
partisanship, it's a measure of your own shortcomings, not of Harper's.

What I am waiting to hear is this:

"We are working with the international community to bring in strong measures to pressure the Mugabe regime which has illegitimately stolen the election."

Any guess as to what Mr Harper's "strong measures" will be? So far the Brits have, as I said, banned the country's cricket team. The Queen has taken away his knighthood. What do you think Canada should do?

Figuring out a way to keep Dion as Liberal leader, will be the best way to fix election results for the CPC.

The next election is about 14 months away. By then people will be pretty tired in listening to Dion's Green Scheme. Who know what the big issues will be for the electorate at that time?
