The Afghans shooting at the Canadian troops as they pull into their towns may be shooting in self defence too...They don't know if they are going to be abused or attacked by our military ...Just like the Canadian military doesn't know if any Afghan approaching them is a bomber....Bottom line is you started it and you are in their country..

the blame doesnt rest on the canadians, its the driver who did not follow protocol. Again, if you go into their perimeter, you will be fired upon. Even after all the warnings, after the soldiers yelling at him to move, he did not stop, so he was perceived as a threat. When it comes to guerilla warfare and suicide attacks, you dont have time to stop them and to ask what their intentions are-unless you want to be killed. seriously put yourselves in the soldiers place. anyone here would have fired as well.
