Decades of poking the bear and then running into the cave to kill its cubs is only going to get you killed.
You know that, I know that and THEY know that but they keep doing it because they see no other option. The PLO chose peace and for that they got ousted from the strip. This is a Gordian knot that must be cut and the increasingly extreme right wing Israeli government and decades of imprisonment has forced this to explode. War was the only possible outcome because all other options have long since been cut off.
The Palestinian militant group staged an attack on Israel early Saturday, firing rockets, killing civilians and taking hostages.
The following day, Fred Hahn, president of the Ontario branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), posted a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, praising "the power of resistance around the globe."
O'Regan said Hahn's statement amounted to a "glorification of violence."
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had a vision for the Middle East that placed shared economic benefits at its heart — including an historic alliance with Israel.
Even a potential solution over a Palestinian state didn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility — a longstanding sticking point between the two countries. “Good negotiations” are ongoing to achieve that goal, the 38-year-old de facto Saudi leader said in an interview with Fox News last month. The US is pushing the talks and “the biggest historical deal since the end of the Cold war” is a realistic prospect, he told the TV channel.

Perfect example of double standards. ^^
When Russia invaded Ukraine, we praised Ukraine for resistance and standing up for bullies. We gave Ukraine money and guns and bullets to take back their territory from aggressors. When Russia bombs a cafe full of people burying their war dead, we propose war crimes trials.
But when Israel does the same thing as Russia, they are the good guys? I'm not excusing any side from their heinous acts against civilians (except Ukraine who avoids such actions), but lets at least be consistent. If it's a bad thing for Russia to drop buildings on children, then it's a bad thing for Israel to do. If it's a good thing for Ukraine to resist an aggressor invading their lands, then it's a good thing for Palestine to do.
Worst thing I can see is that Fred Hahn did was to not wait a longer amount of time to post his message. Too soon.
Human version: there is simply no excuse for the deliberate butchery of civilians even if you can't take on the opposing army. None at all. We're not talking about collateral damage, even military excesses or even war crimes. Hamas is undisputedly no more than murderous thugs. And if the people of Gaza are willing to allow Israel to remove Hamas rather than themselves. they'll pay the price in 'collateral damage' as they always have. Obviously there are the usual reasons and excuses from two totally intransigent opponents, but they no way can justify the sheer barbarity of the attack by Hamas.
Hahn statement put not only his unions reputation in question but also disrupts any credible examples of support in a public sphere for the Palestinian people. It was inept and tone deaf. He should step down.
