I thought that we had a right to open carry hyperbole. I even show up at rally’s carrying mine in a shoulder sling.

Of course people don't think Canadian civilians should have "assault" rifles. But the poll wasn't asked about all semi automatic rifles or shotguns, just assault rifles.

And the ban isn't about those either. What's your point?

The poll question that you said the claimed said "4 out of 5 Canadians support it" is the point. The problem is defining what "it" really is and if it's the banning of "assault rifles" then I can see your statement being accurate otherwise it's not accurate at all and the pie chart shows that.

I suppose right now at least 30 to 40% of Americans would wildly support making Donald Trump their new king, shredding altogether what few parts of the Constitutional rules remain to restrain his whims & appetites, and turning his disgusting spawnlings into a permanent royal family. According to the rules of populism this would have to be taken seriously because "the people have spoken". See how this works, when the vaunted "people" want something no matter how wrong it is? And how basically terrible it is, to govern according to the polling of a given moment? Left-wing populism is just as brain-dead dangerous as the opposite right-wing variety is. Think on that when your supposed "4 out of 5" Canadians want to beat up on someone else just because it's politically popular at the moment.

We do. You can legally strap a non-restricted weapon over your shoulder and carry it in any major downtown in Canada.

But then again, people have the right to freak out and call the cops too.
