This goes beyond being careful into the realm of pure stupidity. Where will it end?
It will end when radicals stop thinking its cool to come up with new ways to purposfully mass murder civilians. Thats where it will end.
Now that this plot is broken up, they are most likely (if they hadnt already planned for such a action) devloping new ways to hijack or blow up planes or other vehicles with sole intention of sending innocent people to horrifying and brutal deaths.
Like 9/11. Do you realize that the people in those planes probably knew for the entire time the plane was under islamic fanatic control that they were probably going to die? Especially after the first plane impacted the WTC. Im sure news reached the other planes and the hijackers were most likely celebrating! So for approximatly 45 min to an hour, hundreds of civilians who woke up that morning, kissed their children or spouse goodbye had the time to think on the fact that they were going to die. And that there were people who were going to be happy about that fact.
And sorry if this sounds so harsh, but these incidents just sicken me. As they should any individual.
You know if there was infact any truth in what you say about the other people in the planes knowing what was going to happen I can assure you that those people would have done EVERYTHING in thier power to stop the plane from crashing. Some idiots with box cutters would not have stopped me from kicking thier ass to the ground if I KNEW we were going to die.
It sounds like to me you think they all gave up and said "ok, lets crash, what difference does it make?" I just cannot fathom such and event happening on every plane, IF they knew they were, without a doubt, going to die.
Thats why 1 plane did fight back. And crashed in a field in PA.

Well,
yeah...
I guess Sirejoe wasn't paying attention to that little detail.
Is there still not contraversy on that one though? That it may have been shot down? Or is that just CT stuff?
As well, are you suggesting then that the other flights knew as well and did nothing to stop them? Same as before, I find it hard to beleive.

So far as tang23's statement? I have never heard anything to say the folks on the first three aircraft knew anymore than they were being hijacked. Have not heard anything to say they knew they were being used as a guided weapons system.
The people on flight 93 had the benifit of time and air phones to find out what happened and did take action.
I see. Fair enough. I dont really think anyone can say either way if they knew. But if they did, I would sure as well HOPE that they would put those pussies with little knives to ground and kick em out the airlock.

gel consistency items can be used to make a bomb on the board... i wouldn refrain from calling it pure stupidity...

As can liquids, or a liquid and a solid, or combinations of solids.
Most gases are fairly safe, though. Bring all the balloons you like.

It's stupidity. I can make a bomb out of cornflakes. And as for the detonator? Lets not forget you're still allowed to have matches.
I can also make a zipgun out of a ballpoint pen,
a knife out of a pencil,
see my point?
I'm not saying there's no threat, but I do not believe banning every possible thing that could be mistaken as an object to cause harm is the answer. I know for a fact it won't make me feel any safer when I fly. If someone seriously wants to take over an airplane, or destroy and airplane, they can do it, regardless of what you ban.

Tell me how you would make a bomb out of cornflakes,im thinking of the millions the mines here could save if they could substitute anfo for a breakfast cereal.

You can actually make an explosive out of pretty much any fine powder -in the case of the kornflakes, they would have to be crushed, but it works. Babypowder works much better, but same idea. It doesn't explode per say, but rather expands very rapidly and displaces a lot of air instantly. In a closed room in can blow all the windows out. In a jetliner I'm pretty sure it wouldn't blow the windows out, but it could knock out some eardrums. It would be an interesting concussion weapon.
