Has anyone read what Brandt said:

$1:
"This is the first time ever we've shut down the 401, and I don't believe it's going to be the last,'' Brant said Friday.

"It was certainly a good test run for us.''

This is why you must put an end to these type of events as soon as they begin.

Another statement which takes away from the cause was this:

$1:
"There's about $118 million a day in freight that passes down this train line and there's a great deal of commerce that travels down the 401, so I guess if we're evaluating on a monetary sense … certainly we've been successful in our campaign."

Great, so steal the money from Canadians mouths, then they'll really want to help you out. :x

Well this really pisses me off. I am sympathetic to the plight of the natives, and I respect their right to express themselves politically. However, when they attempt to interfere with the Canadian economy and take food out of the mouths of tax-paying citizens, it really boils my blood. I also have family in Bob Cajon(sp?) who have a salon there, so I suppose that's my bias.

I was in Bobcaygeon this morning but I did not use the 401. Am heading to Cobourg tonight, hope to see no road blocks.

Oh please enough with the first nations and their boo hoo poor us. They were the first nation and guess what another nation came along and conqured them. The goverment of the time set aside land and put them on it and feed them and supported them. Just think the first nation welfare bums. I am one Canadian who is sick of here about this crap - you guys lost out a hundred years ago get over it and move on. I remember OKA I remember the images of their special land that they were so concerned about thats why they had garbage and rusted out old cars all over the place. Go take a drive out past ipperwash since the natives took it over what a shithole it looks like a dump from the road. This what they are fighting about they can't look after themselves and I am tired of having to pay for this crap. Go get a job like the rest of us and stop whining about the old ways and the injustists of the past. They need to take a good look at themselves and what they have allowed themselves to become and stop the blame game. Yes they are part of our cultural past but it is past. Let them build their casinos if that is what it takes for them to be able to look after themselves but I can see them bugger that up and it to will be the white-mans fault and they will come back with their hands out.

P.s the spell check decided it wanted to join the blockage on the 401 this morning

Ok I for one think we as Taxpayers and Voters need to make our goverments understand a very simple thing. If you break the law you should be arrested this selected enforcement of the law needs to stop. Because if the farmers tried that type of protest the OPP would have broken it up and arrested the lot. What happened today was total Bullshit This guy Brant already has charges pending from earlier this year for an earlier stun of blocking the rail lines after this morning why isnt he back in jail for violating the trems of his release because if he was white theyed have dragged his ass to jail. So we need to send a msg to the fools in power that we want the laws enforced properly or you lose your jobs and this should also be said to the police chiefs as well and if they cant of lack the will to make it happen then we will fire them...Because if they can do it and why cant I and maybe we should just to challenge them in court the law has to enforced equally

If you stay off of highway 45, and highway 2, you should be OK.
From Toronto Star:
$1:
OPP Const. George Silvestri said that both the north and south ends of Alderville, on County Road 45 just north of Cobourg, were blocked by the demonstrators this morning.

National Day of Action - June 29, 2007

Date: Friday, June 29th.

Location: On and near the railroad tracks at the VIA rail station on Counter Street, Kingston, ON.

The Kingston Mohawk Support Network (KMSN) plans to hold demonstrations on and near railroad tracks in Kingston.

We will be calling upon our government to respect its historical agreements with First Nations, and to begin to conduct itself peaceably, justly and honourably in its dealings with all First Nations and peoples.

We have chosen the train tracks as the location for this event to demonstrate our solidarity with the numerous road and railway blockades that are being planned by First Nations communities across Canada as part of this National Day of Action.

A big part of celebrating the National Day of Action will be educating the non-native public as they cross the tracks, but equally important is showing the government and First Nations that First Nations are not alone in their fight for justice and the land they were promised.

We encourage the participation of as many people as possible, in as many ways as possible. Some people may choose set up lawn chairs and “relax on the tracks,” while others may choose to stand by the side of the road and pass out pamphlets and refreshments to motorists (where roads cross the tracks), and still others may play music, chat with passers-by, or play Frisbee on the grass.

We hope to foster a positive and celebratory tone to the protest, with music, street theatre, dancing, and free food.

We invite natives and non-natives alike to join us on June 29th, as we call for an end to Canadian colonialism and apartheid, and for the recognition of First Nations’ sovereignty.

I was in Bobcaygeon when I saw the constellations reveal themselves on star at a time.

The Canadian Gov't has been taking food out of the mouths of the First Nations for years.

Every time we find oil, gold or any precious resource the Canadian Gov't moves them to land they don't think has anything.

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled in favor of the First Nations that the Canadian Gov't should repay the money and resources "stolen" by the Canadian Gov't. The problem is, the Canadian Gov't never does and come up with some excuse why they shouldn't.

So Delwin, you find oil on your land and hit the jackpot.. million in revenue will be coming your way. But the Canadian Gov't comes in and says, sorry Delwin we are taking that land and here is some new land. What will you do?

Take them to court, they still don't pay. What next?? Protest, they still don't care. Do you think you might get so frustrated you take up arms...

No, taking up arms is the last thing I would do. The only way that the first nations are going to win this battle is by convincing Canadians that their position on the issue is the correct one.

I myself am not aware of the oil, or gold which the natives have been robbed of, but if it is true, what the protesters should be doing is informing the public, not holding them for ransom.

Chief fontaine feels the same way:

$1:
Fontaine who led a march from downtown Ottawa to Victoria Island, said he believes there's been progress in settling the land claims issues with the government.

"Whether it is because of a perceived threat to blockade or because of the negotiations we've undertaken for more than a year now, relations seemed to have thawed in the last while," he said.

The Assembly of First Nations' chief's plea that aboriginal leaders hold peaceful rallies aimed at educating the public didn't stop some other native groups from planning protests, either.

I believe that Canadians in general are reasonable people, if they are presented with the facts and determine that what the protesters have to say is reasonable, I believe that they will get behind them.

By disrupting the lives of the general public, the first nations are only creating animosity towards themselves. They are doing more harm to their cause than good.

Could you post examples of oil and gold being stolen ? Or was that strictly metaphorical ? I'm honestly curious.

Alright, this "Mr. Brant" who is leading a blockade just declared that he and his cohorts were armed and are not shy about using their weapons.

So now, what will the local police do to insure public safety?

I'll wager on sweet bugger all any takers?

I'm not terribly busy if anyone would like some heads popped. I'm always happy to relieve terrorists of their earthly burdens.

Canadians, or the "white man", have no respect for Native Canadians....and rightfully so.

Not until Natives participate as Canadians such as obeying laws and stop asking for handouts will Canadians stand behind them.

Native Canadians have a massive amount of benefits. Even with these benefits, they are the least productive group in this Country. High unemployment, poor health, poverty....all self inflicted.

All these land claims are bullshit.

You want to make a difference, tackle the problems in your own community first. Educate your children and take responsibility for yourself and your family. Then, and only then, will Canadians stand behind you.

And Hitler said "I like pie!", what's your point?

A Murderer said "I don't liek mondays" when she killed a bunch of innocent people.

Uncle Joe had a fondness for killing Nazi terrorists, so yes, I suppose there may be that scant similarity. Too bad that Uncle Joe killed more Russians than the Nazis did or I'd be a tad more enthusiastic about that comparison.
