Why come to Canada if it’s too much trouble to learn one of our official languages? That just says to me we want to come and enjoy all Canada has to offer, but we don’t want to contribute anything. Oh, by the way when we go home for a visit and there is a war or we get arrested, we expect the Canadian government to come rescue us, or if we get arrested in Canada we expect services in our own language. Seems to me like these immigrants enjoy lots of rights without any responsibilities.

There kids speak little english, that's going to be real helpfull for them . They won't be-able to interact with most of the kids because yeah, they don't speak there language. They only speak english and french (Mostly English).

Oh and I can't imagine trying to order food like Pizza, and the Pizza doesn't understand a word you said rofl.

I think a rule should be placed down that if you want to immagrate to Canada, you are REQUIRED to learn English or French depending on the area you immagrate to.

Personally when I get my haircut done, or order anything. I want to atleast understand what the person is saying, and I want that person to understand what I am saying. That has happened to me before, I walked into a barber shop. There was a english speaking women, and a mexican immagrant women. The english speaking one was busy, and the immagrant one diddn't speak a word of english so there was no way I could tell her what haircut I wanted so I just walked right out of there and went to a mall one.

Kind of getting out of hand if you ask me. If the requirement isn't set, then atleast restrict them from jobs that you require to socialize with customers like a hair cutter.

We are here 4 months (or is it 5 already?) and my kids DON'T get English as a Second Language offered in school. No budget, no time. They learn it just like any other kid, and they are doing fine (one a bit better then the other though...). It is a freakin shame, that a child born in Canada doesn't speak English, and has to enroll in an English as a Second Language class.

Fuck, you are CANADIAN, he is BORN in Canada, make sure your kids speak the language! WTH is your pride?

(can you see things like this piss me off??? I hated it in Holland, and I hate it here :? You live in a country, SPEAK THE GODDAMNED LANGUAGE!!!)

Its been happeing here in the USA with hispanics for some time now There are some 3rd generation Dominicans that speak spanish first.
Its harder for them also cause Spanish has become our defacto second language.

I understand where all of you are coming from and it pisses me off just as much as you. That is the reason I posted it because I didn't realize that the problem was this bad. It pretty sums up the problem with the immigration in this country. Don't get me wrong, I support immigration it just seems that they are letting in just about anyone these days to fill quotas.

There's absolutely no better way to stifle opportunity and ensure your family stays trapped in the cycle of poverty then not taking the time to learn the language of a country! It's ridiculous, especially when you consider that English is being widely taught in the home countries of many of these immigrants. Why? Because its essential to participate in the economy...and society as a whole. If immigrants with to come here then refuse to assimilate then they have absolutely no right to complain about poverty or lack of opportunities. Welcome to Canada's new slave class of menial workers.

We had three brothers arrive here from Holland.
The first, arrived 40 years back and couldn't speak english at all...he didn't set the world on fire.
The second, showed up 15 years later and was fluent and right from the get go was a go getter.
The third came 5 years later, couldn't speak english and relied on his #1 son's english.
The first brother had the policy of NO dutch spoken in the house and his kids have no accent and have set the world on fire....
The second brother spoke dutch in the home and his fire went out.
The third brother never learned any english and only associated with dutch speakers....a second generation dutch guy has his farm now.

my parents stopped speaking Dutch when they moved to Canada..

as a result, i cant speak Dutch at all..

but my parents English is letter perfect.. better than most Canadians.

i consider it a disadvantage to not speak Dutch, but thats because im in Europe now.

this article is very dangerous, it is another example of people refusing

to integrate.. and we are supporting it.

$1:
Eight-year-old Simran Kular, who was born in Canada, takes English-As-A-Second Language classes in Grade 2.

WTF does this mean ?

Are there schools out west were everything is taught in punjabi and english courses are an elective ?

That is so wrong on so many levels. Hope Trudeau is happy ! Cultural Suicide
