leave it to the libs to sacrafice national security for a chance to disagree with the government and do anything to try to weasle their way back into power. This is why they will not be back in power in a long time because Canadians aren't stupid and they seem to think they are.

I am seriously disappointed in MPs like Derek Lee, Bill Graham, and Irwin Cotler who knew it was wrong to get rid of it, yet only abstained due to their whip.

Delwin @ Tue Feb 27, 2007 7:11 pm

Well I guess this means police will have to get their warrants the old fashioned way, using evidence. God forbid.

Hopefully you're not dead by the time they get that evidence.

This is beyond stupid.

Dion has lost all sense of reason.

Delwin @ Tue Feb 27, 2007 7:28 pm

If they have knowledge of a potential threat they still have every right to follow and observe suspects until enough evidence can be obtained to make an arrest, as was the case with the with the 17 suspects in Toronto, the measyres were never used and so their neccesity was never demonstrated. The threat to civil liberties was very real, similar measures were used in Britain to hold and convict the Gilford four without any evidence. It is fine to defend democracy and freedom but when you must remove our freedom to defend it then what exactly are you defending ? Arar is an example of jumping the gun on this issue and I for one hope something like that never happens again. Arresting a person requires evidence, that's the way it is and that's the way it should be.

me too, they should stand tall and let their voices be heard on the subject, a whipped vote shouldn't change that....

Like I say, I hope they get that evidence before your head is separated from your body.

Hopefully the terrorists will concentrate on killing conservatives. That will improve the average intelligence of Canadians immensely.

:D

How is it all Liberal policies are bad but this one is good enough for the Conservatives to extend three more years? They knew the sunset clause was there and was about to expire. Then why didn't they have something to put in place? Isn't the security of the country important for the current government? Why are they leaving it to the Liberals TO TAKE THE LEAD? Where is the leadership in this party? EH!!!!!!

Perhaps they expected the Liberals to rise above partisanship and support something they themselves brought in?

Yes they brought in what was needed at the time with the knowledge that after five years the GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY would revisit the issue. The Cons dropped the ball not the Libs.

Well, the thread was so full of shit, I am surprised you noticed the stink.

Must come from your childhood experience, I guess.
