Rules are rules.

* I see the 4th last para finally explains the French love affair with the bannana hammocks! lol

Nice ! Now convert back to a real religion or get the hell out of France. You won't have any problem to wear that in Iran or Arabia.

PublicAnimalNo9 @ Wed Aug 12, 2009 10:24 am

Oh you have GOT to be kidding me. A 35 year old "convert" named Carol? Sounds like shit disturbing just for the sake of shit disturbing to me.

$1:
Officials on Wednesday insisted they banned the woman's use of the Islam-friendly swimsuit because of France's unusually strict hygiene standards in pools – not because of official hostility to wearing overtly Muslim garb.

Under the policy, swimmers are prevented from wearing any street-compatible or baggy clothing, such as Bermuda shorts, in favour of figure-hugging suits.

I got a question about this policy.... how the hell are baggy shorts less hygenic?

Seriously what's the difference between someone having their genitals slung up or having breathing room?

Pubes will escape one way or another, and unless someone puts some fancy chemical dye in the pool, who's going to know who peed in the pool and how often?

That's a real poor excuse of a policy.

What was she wearing?

And yet it wasn't too long ago when this:

^ Was mandatory. :?

$1:
“These clothes are used in public, so they can contain molecules, viruses, et cetera, which will go in the water and could be transmitted to other bathers,” Mr. Guillaume said in a telephone interview.

“We reminded this woman that one should not bathe all dressed, just as we would tell someone who is a nudist not to bathe all naked,” he said.

WTF, that makes no damn sense at all.... how friggin retarded can one get with their PC BS?

So apparently too much clothing can cause an evil bacteria buildup that could infect everybody around them, and apparently not enough clothing can do the exact same thing, yet somehow these little speedo-show-everything-that's-legal swim suits somehow do just enough to meet their dumbass standards??

RRRRrrrriiiiiiggghhhttttt...... ok there chum.

I grew up in pools most of my life, be that public or my family's... I learned the pool inside and out, chemical levels and what-not.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but don't their public pools have chlorine and decent filter systems in place to combat such a thing?

How big of an issue is this here in Canada?

We don't have these same laws, I've worn nothing by baggy shorts for the longest time.... when I was fatter, I swam with a shirt. Nobody complained, nobody died, nobody including myself ever got any horrible bacteria infections.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Oh well, I guess this goes on par with my theory that France does in fact have Fashion Police.

Now I know where Quebec got their damn Language Police idea.

Friggin Wanks! :?

Added:

I also suspect that if she showed up in a diving rubber suit that wouldn't be allowed either

All good points Praxius.

The French are scared because their culture is fragile and all these French speaking Muslims are not blending in like they expected.

leewgrant @ Wed Aug 12, 2009 2:45 pm

The test will be, at least it would be here, is whether the rule is legitimate. In other the authorities have to show that wearing baggy clothes is in fact a health hazard.

Hell, I just passed a pool about 15 minutes ago. All the guys I could see were wearing bagging shorts.

They only think their culture is fragile, they're culturally paranoid. The fact that they make difficult for even "foreigners" who are born in France to immigrant parents to obtain citizenship doesn't help the blending-in issue. They've essentially created a permanent underclass of foreigners whom they continue to import for low-wage jobs and whose French-born children and grand-children have difficulty escaping.

You can see her boobies. Somebody call the Mullah.

OK, so say this woman wins her righteous quest for religious freedom. They take down the dress regulations sign. Now I'm coming home from a hard days work scrubbing sewers. It's hot. I feel grimy. I don't have swim gear. No problem. CANNONBALL!

She said that if she lost, she might consider leaving France..... GO FOR IT FRANCE !!!! [B-o] Get all those terrorists out your country maybe you might actually get better.

ridenrain @ Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:44 am

I'd say send her to Iran right now.
Want to go swimming? Only on womans days.
Want to leave the house? Only with a male relative present.
Want to immediately kiss your hard fought western rights away? Go ahead.

BeaverFever @ Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:48 am

"get all those terrorists out of your country?" What, are you saying all muslims are terrorsts? Look at you guys just piling on, getting your jollies off your own self-righteousness and sense of superiority. Its shameful.

Iran and terrorists have nothing to do with this topic, but you guys just can't help yourselves can you? Must always feel superior and quicken yourselves with the rush of outrage toward a complete stranger, right?

ridenrain @ Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:56 am

But sadly Muslims have everything to do with this topic.

On an asside, do Sihks get into pools in France?

At the gym I used in Japan, I HAD to wear speedos and a shower cap too. If you don't like the public pool's hygiene rules, build your own pool and do whatever the hell you want.
