we may have been under British rule at the time, but immigration was left up to the Dominion of Canada, and we did not want them here at the time, as I said before this kind of stupidity is killing Canada.

Our petty assed government is turning into an apologetic bunch of candy asses who are embarrassing the entire country.
You can bet your rear end that the Sihks will be looking for financial compensation now. Maybe they are generational affected by what happened to their ancestors like another race we are all too familiar with so the grand children qualify for more government money.

I've never seen a problem in having a state apologize - that doesn't include monetary compensation - for a legitimate historical wrong (read: it's measured, authentic, objective and has resonance) that society acknowledges as an affront to contemporary mores/worldviews. This isn't a temporal stretch.
