It isn't just Toronto, you nitwit. ALL of Canada's major cities are agreed on the need for more support.

So Calgary gets a share then also? How about Edmonton? They get anything?

From our present government?

Nothing, I guess. :(
Guess it depends on where the voters are.

Well apparently Toronto isn't getting anything either. :?
Good, the people useing it should fork over the extra tax bucks anyways if they really want it.

You can't put everyone in cars, ziggy. Large cities NEED decent public mass transit. The private sector doesn't provide that. The public sector does - or should.

Ya,and on the same note the poor fuckers in Alberta that work 16 hours a day to get you your fuel should be taxed to the nuts. That's allways been the NDP mandate, suck coin out of those makeing more than others while forgetting how they got that fuel or who got killed drilling that well.

Spare me.

Not my problem if you hate your job, ziggy.

Get a life. You're an unbelievable bore.

how about the farming communities, or the logging ones? or maybe the fishing ones?

you neglect one thing and they'll find another reason to bitch, face it it's a lose lose issue. cities are the feds problems but not nearly as much as the provinces

Farming and fishing is another thread.

Yes, cities are an area of provincial jurisdiction but if the provinces neglect their responsibilities we end up with a problem of national scope. Since the feds have some dough, they should show some foresight and step up to the plate.

The future is urban. It's odd (but not surprising) that the CPC refuses to update its image to reflect that.
Well some provinces neglected their responsibilities and it sure wasnt Alberta.

Things come a little more easily in Alberta, eh?

Ya they do when you dont rely on the government to take care of you. Must be why Alberta's doing so good eh?

Suuuure, ziggy. It's because of a superior work ethic and all that stuff and has nothing to do with, you know, Alberta's uniquely rich endowment in oi - er... hydrocarbon resources.

Well if that's the best you can come back with then fine.

Now remember for your later posts....I work in Nunavut, not Alberta.

Unlike you,I am totally unbiased and without an agenda.

Canada will never be united as one as long as some see one province as a cash cow.

Edited for absurdity and a dumb comment.

If you mean to ask if cities should get ongoing support from higher levels of government, then I would answer "yes".

And if the CPC prefers to snub urban areas, it's in a bad place to complain when residents in large Canadian cities choose to support other parties.

neopundit @ Sun Oct 21, 2007 8:26 pm

Streaker Streaker:
Those "political power bases", as you refer to them, are Canada's most important economic motors. If the provinces are unable or unwilling to provide support, the feds should.

But, of course, Canada's "new" government hates everything urban, and that lack of vision will hurt the country in the long run.

It's my understanding that the Feds can't transfer money to the cities, the money has to go through the provinces.
