Everyone seems to hate the police, right up until they call them for help.
I don't need their help...

The police take 25 minutes to get to my house, a car full of my toughest friends takes less then 10.

ROTFL ROTFL
Your toughest friends are a joke, what have they done lately?

Instead of being a typical ass why don't you address the disgraceful and more and more common conduct of the police. On every viral video site we see more and more evidence of conduct from the so called defenders of peace and justice that is anything but.

The rantings of a 15 year old should hardly be a large concern for any thoughtful adult so why don't you address the very serious issues at hand.

How is calling that guys freinds a joke make him anymore of an ass then hating on all cops(even the ones who die in service)?

I do agree that this should be about the issue of brutality but I posted a possible solution earlier in this thread about that and noone responded(not even you) so obviously there is no interest in this thread regarding actual solutions.

Very often when you deal with posts between those of us who have been here for awhile you often get posts that have more to do with past history then the current debate. Chalk this up to said event.

J_U's right wing agenda is at its best troubling and at its worst downright ignorant and he is often a poster who takes the misdeeds of any individual from his target group and applies the same sentiment which he feels is just.

In addition, Mr Canada is a known entity on this forum and (no offence to him) is obviously young and as such his words should be taken as such. An adult knows better and JU should at least make an attempt to address the topic rather then resorting to likewise posts, especially considering he posts the same in reverse.

Unless of course he's a kid then by all means.

Okay but you yourself are also not spending any energy debating possible solutions here either, instead just talking about your displeasure with JU.

I WANT to debate possible solutions. But everyone else is either bashing cops or bashing cop haters. >.<

Feel free to respond to any post on topic and present ideas. Sometimes nobody answers satisfactorily.

You will get a good and intelligent debate if you engage Dayseed. Myself I'll post some materiel but my attention is usually political and healthcare.

Sounds like your the one who has an issue with Police, did they beat you with the Yellow Pages? :(

This happen in the US not Canada so why do you care what happens there concerning the Police?

Maybe you should be more concerned with your local Police and never mind the bias stories against the them while the other stories of their bravery is ignored everyday..

Keep being the little Anti-Police Sheep!

And That's

He shut off the camara so he could kick the shit out of her..they cover their ass.. I am sorry to say I dont have much respect for cops.. I currently work Mental Health and the way they treat some people is terrible.. they really lack alot of training. esp with non violent crises interventions.

Yeah, you just can't trust people who are entrusted to help others.

The sinister thing is that the police are supposed to be the ones we turn to when shit goes bad in society. I don't know how to reconcile entrusting oneself to the will of the police when you could always be subject to an asshole cop. Meaning, if you get pulled over by a dickhead cop hellbent on abusing his power, you don't have much instant recourse.

But, we deal with bad apples in society all the time. A doctor who doesn't bother to fully do his job because he believes you've got something you don't when you've got something he hasn't noticed is just as deadly as getting tasered. We see more and more doctors getting sued for malpractice, but our society focuses more on the salacious abuses perpetrated by some bad apple police.

I think the reality is that we can only keep on rewarding cops who DO do a good job with thanks and punish others appropriately. Let's also keep in mind, especially in some of those viral videos, that shithead teens aren't posting the videos where they righteously bring the wrath down on themselves.

Using YouTube or the news in general, as a measure of police abuse is a dangerously misleading method. As above, it doesn't accurately reflect those times when the police are justified, so we, the public, instead get left with a lopsided biased view of teens who selectively edit then post their evidence.

Does police abuse exist? Yup. Is it ugly? Yup. Is there an easy solution to the problem? Nope. I think Canada has police that are respectful of society, especially compared to other countries where a Charter of Rights is just another book with which to beat a confession out of somebody.

Toughest friends .. *snickers* .. ya right. I would imagine your friends watch CSI too, that way you’re covered in case your house is broken into or your car gets stolen right? Stop talking silly trash. If Joe bad guy is down stairs in the kitchen with a knife I garuntee you the only 3 things in life you will remember will be “NINE” “ONE” “ONE”!

dino_bobba_renno @ Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:36 pm

Over all I’d say any experiences I’ve had with the RCMP have been pretty fair over all. Whether it be me needing help for something or getting trouble something, I’ve met good Mounties and bad one’s but nothing to serious.

City cops on the other hand. What bunch of f’n idiots. Not once have I walked away from the Calgary police station happy. When my truck was stolen they could even bothered to pretend to look for it. “Umm .. check the impound lot “. It was stolen not lost you f#@%head! At least call in the plate or something!

Another time I was driving and there was a tractor trailer going down the deerfoot at about 150 km/h. I called in and was told to call back on the non emergency line which I did. I was on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes!

The best part is I knew a guy from my neighborhood, this guy was completely crooked. He was fired from 2 jobs for theft (just have to love gossiping wifes). He applied for the Calgary Police service and was excepted! The only reason he didn’t become a cop was because he didn’t pass the physical. What on earth do these guys do to test for mental competency? A colour between the lines exercise?

I think all police services in Canada could use a bit of an overhaul in the recruiting department. Mind you who the hell are they going to find? Would you like to be spit at, called names. shot at, threatened and all the other fun things that come with being a cop for $45, 000.00 a year? Christ my secretary started at $48,000.00 a year!

oh, ok kenmore...so you were there to watch the officer turn off the camera and kick the shit out of the chick.

oohhh no wait, you are taking the negative interaction you have had in the mental health industry and placed your bias on to this situation....right.....perception=reality therefore all cops are scum, in the ball park am i?

aaahhhh non violent crisis intervention.....in a perfect world, tell you what, you go into a room with a non medicated schitzophrenic and try your non violent crisis intervention on him, then after your hospital stay, get back to me and tell me how that worked for yah eh

kenmore @ Sun Feb 24, 2008 2:21 pm

well for your information heavy_metal I have been in a closed room with unmedicated schizophrenic... and I am trained in non violent crises intervention.. its how you interact and treat someone that counts.. even with the most violent you can use this method to restrain and secure. the police kick the shit out of people (makes them feel good I guess) when situtations could be different.. I have been a psych nurse many years and I have worked Forensic Units, and in a penitentiary so I have the experience.. the cops need more training with how to deal with the mentally ill and people in general..
I wouldnt critcize if I had not witnessed their brutality first hand.
