Protestors fight closure of Vancouver's Kitsilano Coast Guar

Gunnair Gunnair:
Yeah. CPC closed Kitsilano and the political figures tending left have been lining up to save it because of its SAR capability.
Yeah, that's a comprehension failure I guess. Mind, I suspect you're suffering from some big mental ineptness to suggest that.
Bart's implication was that they don't want it to close beacuse it is located in the riding where they were elected.
Did the politicians or the other protesters make any effort to comment on changes in the SAR operations of other areas?

Deflection. Bart's was a partisan comment. Yours, n this thread, has been the postulation of plain old dumbness.
But don't stop now.

It doesn't matter if you're left, right or the damned Awami League. If they're closing a SAR base in the harbour and you represent the people there, you better fucking protest against it. it's your goddam job!
The most annoying thing was listening to the CPC mouthpieces flat out saying that a 20 minute longer response time means better, improved SAR capability and no talk show host calling them on it.
"You Sir are a goddam liar. Or are you so bloddy stupid (or think so little of the public's intelligence) you're going to seriously try to convince all of us that worse is better?

May I suggest that response time isn't the only important factor in successful SAR efforts?

You may.
Make a SAR call, add more time because they closed a base that was closer to the action, then come back and tell us how it worked out for you.

Reminds me of the sign I saw years ago at the plce where my ATM used to be: "We have closed this kiosk in order to serve you better."
Yes, Herbie, they are liars. Darned good ones. It's why they fly first class on your coin.
Those $20 dollar glasses or OJ are the shit too.

Will the $100,000 to Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, a new inshore rescue boat station, and a new hovercraft be enough to make up for the loss of the other?
Extra 20 min trip to get from Richmond up to the Inner Harbour.
That hovercraft better be a fast one.
$1:
Canadian Coast Guard Station Sea Island Richmond,British Columbia
The Canadian Coast Guard maintains 24-hour availability at its Sea Island hovercraft base in Richmond, British Columbia by using two craft in tandem. The older of the two craft, CCG Penac, is scheduled for replacement in a 5-year $27.3 million program. Upon entering service, the new hovercraft will take over as the primary Search and Rescue response unit and the current primary hovercraft, CCG Siyay, will become the back-up.
The extra 20 minutes(?) is great in good weather, but what about in a major West Coast storm? One of the boats could easily be 20 miles up the Fraser river, with the other on another emergency call, there goes your "20 minute" time differential!! And if the emergency is up in say Indian arm, your best bet is to just hope to Hell there are some private vessels close by which could give some assistance! To close the Kits station is nothing less than a case of total stupidity, which doesn't surprise me in the least....
Waaaalllll if you had some faith in Jay zuuuuuz-suh, you could just walk on WATTAH to shore...Your faith would save you not the earthly Coast Guard....funny, even though it's sarcasm I can imagine some evanqaeda saying it before breaking into tongues
