Maybe they should stop voting for separatists and vote for Liberals then?

ridenrain @ Mon Jan 12, 2009 7:59 am

Considering this gives separatists a huge bargaining chip that they'd never have through an election, it's obvious that they'd jump at the chance.

Maybe they should vote for the NDP?

commanderkai @ Mon Jan 12, 2009 8:13 am

Well that's because they'd be getting free blowjobs from the NDP and Liberal parties whenever they so desired. Quebec would of been having massive rallies if the Coalition leaders pledged to wear Trudeau masks as revenge for the FLQ Crisis.

That seems a bit surprising since the local media has not really mentioned much on this issue.

Also, it's only the opinion of a few Quebecers and this poll may have only been regional. Although, it seems a bit unusual that actual separatists would prefer a coalition with the Liberals or any Federalist political parties for that matter.

Sounds like they got my mom's side of the family, heh.

Of course they want a coalition. It gave them more power and leverage then they have ever had to get what they want. I hope that this poll didn't cost too much because it was completely unnecessary.

Oh, kind of like how the West wants a Triple E senate...

a Triple E senate would only benefit the west?

that's a fair comparison?

Tell me how a Triple E senate benefits the Ontario or Quebec, who currently have more seats than Alberta. A Triple E senate would make all provinces 'equal', thereby stripping them of the power and leverage they have now.

So, uhh, yeah, it's totally appropriate to mention it in this context.

The point (obviously lost on you) is that every province/region wants more power and leverage yet cares nothing for those who will lose for their gain.

so you have a problem with the west having equal power? what the hell is wrong with equal?

gain power through an election not a blank check handed to you from a coalition.

is that lost on you?

Ignatieff doesn't need the west, but he does need Quebec. He should go ahead with the coalition, although I doubt he has the good sense to do so.

of course! after all the Liberals are Canada's real separation party. Divide the Country is their motto.

The Liberals will never get much support from the west anyways. Why should they waste energy even trying to gain support there if it costs them support in the east.

The Libs need to get back to their roots: The East.
