Despite the bigotry of some the US's staunchest ally in the region is becoming more modern and progressive. Its just that they are doing it slower then the instant transformation some people demand.
It took us a long time too as we struggled with modern ideologies such as womens rights. We took generations.
Its not that we haven't offered. Its that they are no different then us. It takes successive generations to evolve progressive thinking.
Look at gay rights. Even now people resist gay marriage. Most have only minor problems with homosexuality but "marriage" is too much to some. A few short years ago "marriage" was "homosexuality" and it was too much to accept.
Their society. Their time frame.

i don't think it's democracy we need to bring tot he Middle East.
It's modernization. And not all at once either.

WTF does that mean?You want them to be modernized. How is that different then them wanting us to become like them?
Yes we do allow them their society. We accept that we have no right to dictate how they govern themselves as a society lest we find that others may decide the same for us.
Since we Canadians seem to be allowed to demand they adopt our justice system should we also demand the US adopt ours and commute all death sentences?
After all, we find it barbaric and they should have to adopt our outlook to right?

John Couey was sentenced to death in Florida on Aug 24, 2007 for the kidnapping, rape, and death of 9YO Jessica Lumsford. In Florida they allow the prisoner to choose between electrocution and lethal injection.
How is that any different?

I don't generally support the death penalty. But in cases of extreme cruelty, like this, I think there should be forced organ donation. Wanna buggar a child? It's gonna cost you a liver and a couple of kidneys.

Nah, they have Tornado's and other trappings of a modern military machine.
Their problem is actually dealing with their own people.
Plus they disdain anybody who's not a Muslim. Kinda cuts down the people who can deal with Saudi Arabia.
